Q: Wrong Apple ID in my iPhone iCloud

This was awesome - even though it says a verification email has been sent to an email acct I couldn't access anymore, it didn't matter b/c on the iPhone I could just put in the current PW with the old email and it let me delete the account. Thanks for putting this together!!!

Briefly, you go to manage your apple id (https://appleid.apple.com/), then change your username back to the old email address. Then go back into settings and delete the old account. This time, you'll be able to use your current password. Then go back to manage your apple id and change to your new username. This seems to have worked for me. I then had to re-verify my new email address, which I did.

Hello, I've tried all the above solutions but to no avail. When I edit my primary email account by adding the old account name i receive this dialogue from apple: "This e-mail address is not available for use as an Apple ID. You may already have an Apple ID associated with this address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID." So unable to do anything to rectify the problem requests to enter iCloud password for old email address/username. Any suggestions as Apple Support have, as usual, been particularly unhelpful?

Same for me, did all the above but also "This e-mail address is not available for use as an Apple ID. You may...."

I have the same problem. It is driving me crazy. This is after a long run of iTunes and my iPhone asking me to update things. I checked my wireless provider and I have long been able to get an upgrade/change phones...I am about one inch away from turning this baby in for a non-Apple product. Security is nice, but when it's so secure that the OWNER can't use it, that's a problem.

i was able to access my old email and verify everything but my phone wouldnt take my password. I used it on appleid.apple.com and on icloud.com but the device wouldnt take it. so i changed the password and the device still wont take it. any ideas?

What a pain in the *** but it worked.

Let me tell you that nothing worked for me. So I followed the link above and clicked on manage my apple id. i signed in with my new user name and password. Then I added my old email address as an additional email. I had to got into that mail account and verify it and then when enter your password for you iCloud  cAme up with the old email address, I typed in my password for my new apple id and BINGO!!!!

Trying to change an old Apple id listed for iCloud account on my husband's iPad to the new Apple id on his iPad was becoming a nightmare until I found your simple instructions.  It worked perfectly!  I can't thank you enough!
