Sep 20, 2014 12:02 AM in response to NikChby dressnlatex,Same problem with iPad Air upgraded to iOS 8 connecting to 802.11a, n and ac on 5ghz. Security is set for wpa2.
Turning off wifi and on again on iPad will allow wifi to work for a few minutes until it crawls with low latency and eventually disconnect.
ANyone reporting this issue to Apple support yet?

Sep 20, 2014 3:53 AM in response to NikChby William Smith11,This was not my idea but it worked and I had the same problem as you are describing. It appears to be common and based on the fix affecting people who have a manual wifi channel selected, mine was 11. The fix described on here again by someone else who I cannot re locate at the moment is to switch to automatic channel selection, in my case on a Time Machine router. You will need to restart the router as part of the process. This fixed my problem completely. I had already tried forgetting and rejoining the network, that did not work. I switched to my 2.5G network and that seemed to work but not optimal. Changing from a fixed wifi channel to automatic is what fixed it on 5Ghz wifi. I have a iPad Air running Ios 8. Use the IOS utility Apple provides to control their routers or use a Mac to change your settings. Third party router I cannot suggest how you will make the change.

Sep 20, 2014 5:50 AM in response to William Smith11by NikCh,I too have tried network resets etc. My router (not and Apple one) already had automatic channel selection (the 5GHz was on channel 48). So it would appear that that isn't the problem.

Sep 20, 2014 7:18 AM in response to dressnlatexby NikCh,I think I've reported it on a feedback page... not quite sure I got the right page. Was in feedback about iPad but didn't have a drop-down option for iOS 8.

Sep 20, 2014 11:48 AM in response to William Smith11by William Smith11,I Take it back auto channel setting is not the answer.. Resorted to not using 5 Ghz and using 2.5Ghz unti Apple sorts out. Make sure you repot to Apple this problem, until they get enough complaints they may not bother correcting.

Sep 21, 2014 3:41 AM in response to William Smith11by NikCh,My router was set to automatic channel selection and had set the 5 GHz channel to 48. However, by way of experimenting, I manually set the channel to 44 and it seems to have done the trick - it all works (including other devices) - so far!

Thanks, but this didn't work for me after a few minutes. Does anyone know how non-developers can report bugs to Apple? I read where they have an IOS 8 "War Room" for monitoring bugs.

Sep 21, 2014 10:09 AM in response to NikChby displacedgothamist,Just came online to search for an answer to this. I have an older iPad 2 and since the IOS 8 update (just did it yesterday) I am having horrible problems trying to stay on my wifi -- that prior had zero issues. The only way I can resolve it is to reboot the iPad, but then after a couple of minutes I get the same problem again, and constantly having to reboot isn't a solution.
I did not have this issue prior to this update.

Sep 21, 2014 11:12 AM in response to NikChby displacedgothamist,Update on this for me:
I've discovered that the wifi starts acting poorly/not working if you let the iPad idle after rebooting it or you close the cover. The wifi signal shows up at the top left, but it fails to load any safari or facebook or any internet-needed app.
The only solution that's worked for me is rebooting, but surely this isn't a longterm solution. Once your reboot, it works until you let the iPad idle or you close the cover. Feels like I own a really pretty paperweight right now because otherwise my previously-functioning machine doesn't work;
It's definately tied to the IOS 8 update. I was not experiencing this issue prior.
