    I have same problem.

It seems like new iOS8 puts photostream and Albums(Recently add) together.

When I took the photo, it send it to the computer via icloud desktop program.

Also when I delete the photo, it delete from the desktop as well.

Now I have new problem.  It seems like computer has what I have on the phone.  I only have 6GB left.

In other word.... I only can take up to 6GB to transfer to the computer.

Old photostream was better.   I can choose what to stream so I have different photo for the computer and my phone.

Since it is combine together, I have problem with space or i have to use other cloud system like dropbox etc..

I cannot no longer use cloud to save the photo.  This is very very very bad update on the photostream

If you were using Photo Stream in iOS 7, then you were using iCloud. Photo Stream only works with iCloud.

The difference between iOS 7 and iOS 8 is that both the Camera Roll and Photo Stream are now located in the "Recently Added" album instead of in two separate albums. Many users complained about having to delete the same photo in multiple places, so this resolves that issue. It is also probably changed to this configuration in anticipation of iCloud Drive.

Again, you indicated that you lost photos out of Photo Stream. You couldn't have had photos in Photo Stream unless you were signed into iCloud and had Photo Stream turned on. Otherwise, you would have had a Camera Roll and a Camera Roll only.

The 1000 photos that were in your Photo Stream were only on your Photo Stream on your device. Photo Stream in the Cloud will only keep the last 30 days of photos. So, when you downloaded the new software, it signed you out of iCloud and then back in (automatically and behind the scenes), and so only the 30 days of photos that were in Photo Stream in the Cloud re-downloaded to your device.

Photo Stream was never a place to store photos. It was a temporary repository where photos taken on devices that were on the same iCloud account would be able to share the photos taken between the devices. It was never there as a replacement to your Camera Roll or to the regular backing up of those photos to a computer or cloud service like Dropbox.

If your 1000 photos were in your Photo Stream and only in your Photo Stream, then they are gone. The same issue would have occurred had you needed to restore your device for any reason, or had you turned off Photo Stream (even temporarily) for any reason.

    Sorry,

You don't understand what i mean, i have all my photos but i can see them when i'm looking in years or months when i click to photos in left corner, but i want Camera Roll album back, where all mu photos are together in one album, and i never logd in to i cloud and i never shared any photo with another device, and after update it automatically signed in but i signed out again because i don't want to use it

Well, you have now completely switched your question from Photo Stream to the Camera Roll. They are entirely different things. If you are not referring to the iCloud syncing album called Photo Stream, but are referring to the Camera Roll, it is extremely important that you use the correct terminology. Otherwise, we have no way to know what it is you are referring to....

The replacement for your Camera Roll is Recently Added. New Camera Roll photos will stay in Recently added for 30 days, and then will be moved to the Photos section with the photos organized in a hierarchy as follows:

Years - all your photos for a given year will show by Year

Collections - all your photos for a given date range within a given year will show in date range order

Moments - all your photos for a given date will show in date order - oldest to newest

    That's how it works now.

If you only have 40 in Recently Added, those were the photos you took in the last month. These photos also show up in the Photos section by date. The rest of the photos you are looking for are there.

    Cheers,

No there is no way to get that particular "Album" back. You can create one of your own, and select all of the photos you want in date order (going backwards from the most recent) in Moments (which is where it takes your when you create an Album). Then, you can just continue to move new photos in daily, once a week, or whenever you want.

That's the best that can be done at this point.

Your "Camera Roll" is now in the Photos view. The "default Albums" that are in your Albums view - Recently Added, Panoramas, Videos, and Slo-mo, are just pointing to the photos that fit into those categories, but they actually "live" in the photo library which is shared by all of the different views. The only photos which are not in the other views is Recently Deleted which are out there by themselves. They have been moved from the main library to a "temporary library", and the photos in it will be automatically deleted entirely when they have been out there for 30 days.
