Sep 20, 2014 2:41 AM in response to flattrackervernby Keith Doherty3,★HelpfulWhat is stated previously is only partially true the iPad and iOS can also share your phones internet connection via Bluetooth via PAN protocols - If your phone meets certain specs and has set it up correctly to do so.
Thats the hotspot feature and iOS will support connections over Wifi/USB cable or Bluetooth (PAN protocol)-Essentially a very short range Wifi connection over Bluetooth frequencies .
The traditional DUN (dial up over Bluetooth) will present you with more difficulty as IOS on the iPad doesn't have a dialler !
Bluetooth within iOS natively does not support file transfers of copy right music files, documents or images.
Images and documents can be transferred via iTunes on/off a Mac/PC or better via a third party conduit - tools such as Dropbox, GoodReader or Documents to Go and of course via email and MMS.
Additionally images can be automatically uploaded and delivered to your Mac (iTunes or Aperture) or directly to your Pictures folder in W7 or W8 via iCloud if you subscribe.
The iWork apps Pages/Numbers also sync documents across the web between iOS and Mac versions additionally via the Web services accessible in any Web browser on your PC. These can also save docs created in Office compatible formats (Caveat some complex formatting may be lost in transfer) and as PDFs.
An aside Pages actually creates its documents in editable PDF files within a container and thats why they seem somewhat large compared to other word processors - In reality its more of a stripped down DTP programme
Microsoft also now offer Office tools for iOS with basic viewing freely available - they are however monetising editing and requiring a 365 subscription typically dumb !
Finally subject to corporate IT issues you can also install Logmein in software (freely) on both the iOS and any PC/MAC and via a stable WiFi connection actually view and WORK on a remote PC/Mac desktop.
Citrix also offer their GoToMyPC remote viewing software however its NOT free unlike Logmein
Thats a lot of information i know from your simple question/problem but read through and i think you will find your iPad rely can become a road tool - It has for me and i still have an original iPad WiFi sharing the internet via a Samsung G3 company phone (Hate it BTW and would sooner use my spouses iPhone 4S !)
