Sep 19, 2014 5:42 PM in response to beatrizarcerby jamieskidoo,Jamie here in Newport Beach CA. I rebooted my iP5s then went into shortcuts and keep selecting 'Edit' and then 'Done' & finally the shortcuts showed themselves. I had previous did a sync to iTunes. This on 09.19.2014-Friday. Don't panic as the shortcuts are there.

Sep 19, 2014 6:08 PM in response to beatrizarcerby Exkclamation,I posted earlier, upgraded my iPhone 5S and shortcuts disappeared. Then it was fixed by clicking the edit/done trick.
Today I got an iPhone 6, and after syncing everything all the shortcuts are gone again.
None of the tricks work. Figured I would post an updated (even if its a bit off topic).

Sep 19, 2014 6:16 PM in response to beatrizarcerby milleron,As GeoFan noted, this problem is not solved. It comes and goes. This am, my shortcuts were all back. This evening, they're all gone again, even the new ones I created on the new iPhone 6. Baffling. Might it have something to do w/ Apple's opening up the keyboard to third-party party developers? I did add a Swype keyboard after the problem appeared to be resolved, & I wonder if that's what broke the shortcuts again

Sep 19, 2014 9:22 PM in response to beatrizarcerby mbetesh,Figured it out. It has to do with the Predictive Keyboard. Turn it off, and then turn it back on. Apparently the shortcuts are not loaded in the predictive keyboard library after the upgrade to ios8. Restarting the predictive keyboard reloads them.

Sep 20, 2014 5:57 AM in response to mbeteshby milleron,What do you mean by turn it off? Switch to a different keyboard and switch back? If so, that didn't work for me.

Sep 20, 2014 6:09 AM in response to jamieskidooby MightyMac,Tried these workarounds and they don't last. As I stated in my original post, the more people that submit feedback to Apple the better. I updated my iPad mini to iOS 8 and all the shortcuts appeared on my iPhone. They soon disappeared from both devices. This is a data sync issue with iCloud. I'm not worried about data loss, but since we are all using shortcuts, we are all feeling the productivity pinch. Hopefully, the next update can fix this as it is annoying to lose this functionality. I'll keep trying different things and report back if I can come up with another workaround. At least QuickType predictive text is super useful once you adapt to it.

Sep 20, 2014 6:53 AM in response to beatrizarcerby milleron,Sadly, there's no way that the coders couldn't have known about this bug before release. I don't see how that could have been possible. It speaks poorly of Apple that they didn't get this problem resolved before they gave it to the public

Sep 20, 2014 7:09 AM in response to sterling rby beatrizarcer,I now have some shortcuts in my phone but those are not the ones I had before updating. This problem happened to me before when I had an iPhone 4S and upgraded it to iOS 7, and I could never use keyboard shortcuts in that phone. Shortly after that, I bought a new iPhone and entered new shortcuts. As I thought the same thing would happen to me this time, I entered new shortcuts as soon as I realized the old ones disappeared after the update to iOS 8, of course I had like a thousand of them and now I only have 20 that disappeared when I posted the first time and have now reappeared I don't know why. I guess it has something to do with predictive text (on iOS 7 you didn't have to enable predictive text in order to use keyboard shortcuts). I'll report the problem to apple, we should all do.

Sep 20, 2014 7:51 AM in response to beatrizarcerby brevans61,I'm having the same problems on my iPad 2 and my iPhone 5. The only thing that works is to turn my devices off and back on again, however the shortcuts always disappear shortly after. None of the other troubleshooting tips in this thread have worked on my devices. I sent feedback to Apple as well. Hopefully they fix this soon.

Sep 20, 2014 8:47 AM in response to DanCJby Lubsy,This option doesn't appear if you turned on iCloud Drive. I wonder if this new Drive business is the culprit here.

Sep 20, 2014 9:01 AM in response to brevans61by milleron,The only shortcut I get back by powering down is the sample one that was already on my iPhone 6 when I first turned it on-- "on my way." I've had my 6 for about 14 hours, & all of my shortcuts appeared once, very briefly, and then vanished again. Nothing now brings them back. It doesn't matter which keyboard is enabled, doesn't matter whether predictive text is on or off.

Sep 20, 2014 10:19 AM in response to beatrizarcerby Lohvarn,I lost all my keyboard shortcuts on my iPhone 5s after upgrading to iOS 8. They still showed up on my iPad Air (iOS 8) and iMac (10.9.5). There were, however, massive sync problems, sometimes they would only flow from one device to all the others, sometimes from one device to only one of the other two, sometimes not at all.
I deleted all my shortcuts and started from scratch, deleting “~/Library/Application Support/Ubiquity”, ~/Library/Dictionaries” and “~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~TextInput” from the iMac and KeyboardDomain from my iOS devices.
Rebooted everything a dozen times.
Toggled Documents & Data Sync off and on a dozen times too in all kinds of combination with rebooting and deleting the aforementioned files.
Everything always starts working and syncing fine for a very short while, but sooner or later one of my devices stops receiving new shortcuts as I re-add them.
I reboot that device and it catches up. I enter new shortcuts, and that device doesn’t get any new shortcuts. This time, a reboot doesn’t fix anything.
After using my devices for a while, I notice shortcuts are entirely gone from both the iPhone and iPad, but not from the iMac.
I even upgraded my iPhone 5s to a 6, and right off the bat it had issues with keyboard shortcut sync. I also setup my iPad as new, and same thing: right off the bat, sync issues with keyboard shortcuts.
