Sep 21, 2014 5:30 AM in response to nayan9by Tom in London,Consider yourself lucky! I didn't know there was an update and didn't get any notification. I only found out by chance when I was reading a Mac website.
In your case, it sounds as if you didn't download the update properly, perhaps by trying to use the computer while it was installing the the update, or perhaps the download process was interrupted in some way, by a momentary power interruption or something else.
If before installing the update you cloned your computer (this is always strongly advisable) then you could simply reboot from the clone and start again.
If you don't have a clone then you may need to completely reinstall Mavericks, and then try again. Installing the latest update should only take a few minutes.
