Q: iOS 8 Wi-Fi problems

WI-Fi problems on iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display and iPhone 5S after upgrading to iOS 8.

Typical results from OOKLA Speedtest before upgrade: Ping 17 ms, Upload 21 Mbps, Download 4.4 Mbps

Typical results after upgrade: Ping 39 ms, Download 2.9 Mbps, Upload 0.47 Mbps

iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 get 15 Mbps download and 4.4 upload on the same network.

Resetting network settings on the iOS 8 devices did not improve the performance.

Changing band on the router from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz did give me back the speed on all devices.

However the speed occasonally drops on the iOS 8 devices, and the signal strengt can go from full til lost connection without moving the devices.

Also sometimes the Wi-Fi SweetSpots app report 0 mbps when the signal strenght is indicated as full and then suddenly go up to around 58 Mbps again.

It is almost like the device is trying to use cellular network that I do not have on the iPads before it suddenly switches back to Wi-fi nettwork again.

I am thinking about going back to my iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 that is working perfectly until the Wi-Fi issues are resolved.

Any help will be very much appreciated!

Same here! My iPad 4 and iPhone 5c.

So much bugs. I have to reset my phone at least once per day. And on both devices i made fresh install.

Can not use AirPlay because of WiFi issues. It's just gets disconnected every 2-10 seconds. So I'm with out music right now at home.
I have two Apple AirPort stations.

I am having to write this post on my iphone4 as my iPad Air is now virtually useless with the update to ISO8.

My iPad Air was working fine on ISO7 except of wifi disconnects such were becoming more frequent. Due to only being 10 months I was going to ask apple to replace it.  Before I approaching them I thought ISO8 would of rectified the problem.  How wrong and foolish was I?  It is now almost useless, drops wifi even though its connected to the router and takes 30 seconds to load web pages if it has not times out.

There seems to be many posts on the net regarding iPad Air wifi issues and Apple must know about it but seem not to want to admit to it or to reassure customers they are dealing with the issue.

Quite frankly this is totally unacceptable from a multi million / billion dollar company.  Do they care about their customers? It seems not to me...  I have a £500 item that does not function as it's advertised to.  I think a call to Trading Standards is required.

The updated BRICKED my iPad4.  No really, bricked it.  Stone cold dead.  Went from operating perfectly on iOS 7 to this.  OMG

I am also having this problem.  iPad Air has been working fine until I "upgraded" to iOS 8 on Friday and ever since then, Youtube doesn't work, safari/chrome drops while browsing, basically anything requiring internet is now useless.  Setting the ipad to airplane mode or hard reset will temporarily fix it but it last for about 5 mins before it drops again.  This is ridiculous.  Apple really needs to get on the ball and get this fixed ASAP.

Yeah wifi has gone a bit weird. My iPad third gen seems ok on ios 8 but the iPhone 5s is glitching. Am

not dropping but 2.4 is intermittently slowing right down and then for no reason picks up after a minute or so. It's not interference as this never occured in ios 7.1.2 and at the same time the iPad on the same band is fine. AirPlay is also quite slow to pick up on the 5s now. I also use a mycloud WD app that intermittently v slow to load folders on iphone now inside my own networK. But ipad is fine! Def not firing on all cylinders on the 5s though! Wish I'd never gone near it, should know better to upgrade straight away. Apple never tests properly and uses us as guinea pigs. They have the resources to do better before unleashing new ios. I really wish they didn't keep rolling out ios updates every year. Imagine if they gave ios 7 a life cycle of two to three years and releases imcrememental point updates, it would become so stable, bug free that everyone would be happy. Rather than the annual torment of iOS updates. I know you don't have to upgrade but before long you get forced as some apps become ios 8 only. Frustrating

I just got the iPhone 6 16gb and i'm having the same problem, really glad it's not just me or my phone. my phone will connect to most wifi points, but at work when i input the wifi password it just constantly has the little loading circle next to it. no wifi icon in the status bar and it doesnt seem to actually be connected. it'll display an IP address and subnet mask but that's it. i've tried forgetting the network, resetting network setting, and a soft reboot. nothing will connect my phone to the wifi at work. my coworkers use it fine (I dont think they're running ios8 actually...) AND on top of it, we reset the whole internet router yesterday so it's fresh and working on the computers, other people's iPhones, etc, BUT NOT MY IPHONE 6!!!!

Having the same problems on my iPad Air and iPhone6. Wifi connections fade in and out. Have reset modem, router and devices. Wifi is pretty constant and where I expect it to be on windows laptop. Glad I read all of your comments before I started throwing hardware out the window. Cycling between Wifi and LTE seems to offer a very temporary fix but sure is a pain. Hopefully a fix is available soon.

If I got to school tomorrow and my iPhone 6 won't connect to the wifi on campus I will be extremely upset. I can live with it not working at work until there's a fix...but at school..No way.

Since iPad updated nothing but trouble, wifi drops out constantly, super fast broadband is not super. Apple sort it out.  Even the keyboard can't keep up.

iPhone doesn't seem to have problems yet. All needs sorting out....
