Q: Can't invite to event in iOS 8 / invitations don't show up

Hi,

Here's a problem I'm having with iOS 8: I can't invite anyone to an event from my iPhone 5s or iPad Air (both running iOS 8). The invitees section simply doesn't show when I create/edit an event So I sent the invitation from my Mac, but it doesn't show up on the invitee's device either (also iPhone 5s, running iOS 8). While in the overview it does show that there's an invitee on my iPad, the Calendar app crashes when I try to edit events with invitations. I can open/edit the event on my iPhone, but I still don''t see the invitees section, even though when It says there is one in the overview.

I find this all very strange, but just can't figure out what the problem is.

I should note that I'm not using iCloud Calendar, but sync it using another service. But that was never a problem in iOS 7, so why should it be now?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Am I really the only one experiencing this issue? Does no one has a solution? This is absolutely frustrating.

I'm having a similar issue. I see the invitee field, but if I create or edit an event and try to add an invitee, the calendar app crashes. im using a MS Exchance server. This happens every time I try to add an invitee, on both my iPad Air and iphone 5. Peoblem started when I upgraded to iOS 8. Worked (for years) before the upgrade.

IM also seeing crashes in Safari.

    IOs 8 clearly has issues.

Well, "at least" it's not just me. Guess I'll be sending them my second bug report relating to iOS 8 today. THing is, there are lots of things that I like about iOS 8. If only those two big bugs (photo order and event invitations) and a few minor ones weren't there...

    Are you using Exchange?

Either way, I can't believe it's just us.  This crash happens to me every time, on two devices.  I'm a very heavy user of the calendar, and never had a problem on earlier versions of IOS.  It must be happening to a lot of people.

Yes! Thus my confusion. I couldn't believe no one replied to this as others must be having similar issues.

    No issues here - iPhone 5S w/ iOS8.

Have you deleted the active Exchange email account and re-added it?  Have you reset the device (you will not lose any settings or data)?  Hold the home button + the lock button for about 6-8 seconds until the Apple logo appears.  You will not lose any data or current settings.

Deleting/re-adding the Exchange account seemed to work.  Thanks!  Kind of a pain, and it shouldn't have been necessary, but at least now I can get on with my life.

Good to know! I will try that later on! Though I still think this is a completely unnecessary hassle for users, that should never be allowed to slip through betas. "Back in the days" I felt like even DPs of earlier versions of iOS were less faulty than this final release.

I have restored my 5S twice from backup.  When running iOS 8 I had the feature.  When iOS 8.0.2 arrived I started having the problem.  Oddly, my wife is not having this problem on either of her 5S's or her iPad mini.  I even tried signing out of my account and signing back in because some Exchange users did this with their Exchange accounts to resolve the problem.  My last resort is to restore clean and forego my backup.  I really don't want to do that.  Have you tried anything else lately?

DI'd you try what was already discussed?  Deleting the exchange account and adding it back?  That worked for me.

I'm having the same problem!  New iPhone 6 running iOS 8.02.  When I create an event, there is no "Invitee" button like there used to be on my iPhone 4s w/ iOS 7.  This isn't the only buggy thing I'm experiencing. What's the solution to the no-invitee button??

TThat's a weird one. I'm on an iPhone 5, but with ios 8 I have an invitees button. Do you need to scroll down?

No, the Invitee button wasn't anywhere, not even scrolling down. However, I got it back just now:  I did what someone above suggested....I deleted the account (in my case, it was the Gmail account that I use for calendar syncing) and I re-added it.  Then I also noticed that the Default Calendar was set to "Home" which is not one of my calendar names. I changed Default Calendar to the Gmail account I use for calendar syncing (Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendar --> scroll down to Default Calendar) and now I have my Invitee button back.

I don't know where the "Home" default calendar setting came from.  Perhaps some setting from Apple?  But this whole new-iPhone 6 & iOS8 has been ridiculously full of bugs like that.  I'm still finding quirkiness -- like how Group text messages come back to me in separate threads which never happened before and which I'm reading other people having prob with.

Sigh, frustrated and still dealing with set-up stuff two weeks into my new phone.
