World Peace!  Hah.  Just watch the hundreds of thousands football fans roar with glee over a hard hit.  Boxing fans on a knockout or wrestling fans when the heavyweight gets thrown from overhead to the floor.

However, I love my Halos but have a question.  Streaming music from my iPhone sounds very "thin", with hardly any bass.  What is everyones experience and, it there a way to improve the frequency range?

This is a very good "community".

There ya go!  You've proved my point that PEACE and TESTOSTERONE are incompatible.  ;D

YES!  I went to my audi yesterday and had him change my "Music" settings to fill in the mids and lows, AND to CRANK UP that one setting way high.  What a difference in streaming!  Before making the change, SPEECH was "acceptable" though "thin."  Now it sounds "good" and has plenty of reserve.  ALSO if you have the kind of cones that have holes, you probably want to try a "closed" cone.  The closed cone really doesn't cut out much outside sound, but it gives you a "fuller" sound.

My "speech" setting didn't need to be adjusted, so I use that for conversation, but when streaming I go to "Music" and get the fuller sound on ALL STREAMING -including phone calls.  I usually turn the mics off whilst streaming, because I work alone, and don't need to hear speech until I go somewhere where I'm talking with people (like at home.)  Things really sound good now.

    Jack,

Have you tried creating a soundspace memory where you can adjust the the bass and treble settings yourself. I think you can save thm without geo tagging, I am not 100% sure about that...anyone know?? Even if you can't create without a geo tag, you could save it, name it music and then manually switch to those settings when you are streaming music.

I love my halos, I was reading some information about them and found out that the technology used to for programming actually takes higher pitched sounds and reproduces at a lower pitch for high frequency losses. I only hear the first two Hertz on the audiogram graph and way below normal, like around 20 after the first two I drop to absolute zero. I wonder if that technology is affecting the quality of music. For me it is amazing, it explains why I can now hear my oven beep when I set it for example, even with Wii aids I didn't hear that, I am guessing the Halos are sending a lower pitch of the sound to my brain than the actual sound makes, it still sounds really high to me because of how extreme my loss is.

Being able to discuss with other aid users is really helpful. People that have normal hearing really don't understand the issues those of us that can't hear are faced with. I used to dread having to make a phone call, I have been on the phone successfully more in the last week then I have in the past year.

Now if they can just get the iphone 6 to work with them I will be ecstatic!!

The inability to use the Halos features because of iPhone 6 demonstrated to me how much I had come to rely on them. I miss telephone calls, streaming musi, directions from Siri and more.

I hear you! Pun intended...Someone on this thread, maybe dogsitter, said that he(she) was successfully using both an iPhone 5 and an iPad with iOS8.

I have read that you can answer phone calls on your iPad with iOS 8, I am wondering if a temporary fix for you would be to use an iPad for the phone calls.

My iPad is wifi only, does anyone know

    A. will phones go the the iPad if I update my 5 to iOS 8, I have already updated the iPad, my aids do connect and stream perfectly. After I installed the update it did say it wouldn't sync with my phone until I installed 8 on it.

    B. Does the iPad need cell service to recieve the calls or will it work while connected to wifi?

It might be a help for those that have already activated iPhone 6

I posted a how to link for using the non cellular iPad as a phone yesterday on another forum. Very easy if the iPad and iPhone both have iOS 8 and are on the same Wi-Fi network. http://www.iphonehacks.com/2014/09/make-receive-phone-calls-ipad-using-iphone-io s-8.html

THe the trick is turning on FaceTime on both devices.

i read iOS 8.1 is in developers hands with numerous fixes. Hope Starkey Is one of them but they claim to have recieved the 6 at the same time everyone else did. So it may be awhile.

Today on Facebook Starkey had posted something about the Halo and iPhone.  I asked if it was compatible with iPhone 6.  Let's see if I get an answer.  I am so glad I couldn't upgrade until October 6.  Hope it is fixed by that time.

My audiologist also told me that Apple would not release anything to Starkey until the update was made.  Just not right on Apple's part when many people are depending on these devices.

so i decide to go to a movie. I put in HAs. They show in iphone, but I try streaming a podcast. One ear only. O.K. so I'll try a new battery in the left one which is the one that cut out. It comes in. Get in car (its raining so can't ride my motorcycle without geat hassle) and I'm not half mile before left streming cuts out again. Get to movie and the HAs keep getting unbalanced. Trile click and rebalance. Even try changing from normal to auditorium and back and still unbalance volume which I didn't want.

Get out of movie and try streaming and still no left ear. Try shutting down hone and restart. SInce then I have gone through process a dozen times and no luck. Only the right aid is showing on the phone.  Left is on. Just can't adjust.

I testing these and while I like them, I'm not happy being a technology guenea pig. I think I'll go back to the old ones until someone can tell me these things just work. I can't afford $7,000 for somethign that does not work as advertised.

I was actually in Minnesota at Starkey's headquarters on Sept. 12th having my Halos made. They did tell me not to upgrade to iOS 8 or the iPhone 6 until they said it was good to go. They were waiting for the release of the phones on the 19th, just like the rest of the world. I was surprised that they didn't get a pre-release version. It seems like some media people did so they could post reviews, I might be wrong about that, maybe they got them on the 19th. You would think that at the very least a beta version of iOS 8 would have been released to app developers of this nature.

I asked on the Starkey Hearing facebook the other day, the responded first that there were issues and to wait they were working on it. Then 4 or 5 hours later they said they were compatible. Since that time many people on here have said it isn't true. My rock and hard place is my iPhone 5 is junk. I am depending on a battery case and an 10,000 mgh external pack to keep it charged when I am not near a wall outlet. I have until October 19th to send my 5 back in for buyback Credit. I hope they get it worked out before then. In the meantime I am holding tight with the 5 anxiously awaiting someone to have good things to say about the 6 and Halos.

I can't get the link you posted to work SantefeNM.

Tim Cook, at presentation, gave a 6 and 6+ to all attendees.  Starkey should have attended and received a pair for testing at that time.

Sorry the link is down. But the instructions were (I believe) to go to Settings/Facebook on the iPad and iPhone and enable Facebook and Celllular Calls. Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Then go to your contacts and select one to make a call. Let me know.

Mine where trouble free (until iPhone 6 anyway). You may have already tried this but you could go into Settings, Assesibility and choose Forget this Device. Then reset them up as new. which will mean pairing them again.

No, you do NOT need cell service on the iPad to answer calls on it to your iPhone.  It just needs:

    1.  To be logged in to the same Apple ID.

    2.  To be connected to the same Wi-Fi network

    3.  Both devices need to have iOS 8.

Here's what happens: Your phone rings.  A half second later, your iPad is also ringing.  You can answer either.

Behind the scenes, the iPhone and iPad are talking to each other via Wi-Fi.  CONTINUITY provides the link.  If you answer on the iPad, it is actually sending your voice TO the iPhone via Wi-Fi, and the iPhone is talking to your carrier.

When OS X 10.10 Yosemite comes out, the same thing will happen with your computer.  You'll be able to use your Mac as a speaker phone.

Not related to THIS question, my iPhone got corrupted and wouldn't talk Bluetooth.  It wouldn't work after a RESTORE either, so I did a SOFTWARE RESET, erasing the phone, and set it up AS A NEW PHONE.  Now it is working again.

good information from both of you.

I have not updated software on the phone, guess it's safe to do that.

If I can hear as well via the iPad, I might gamble using the iPhone 6....decisions decisions

thanks for the continued in put.
