Sep 24, 2014 1:27 PM in response to misticiniby OGELTHORPE,If it is from the same model identifier MBP, then the chances are good. If not, I would not risk the time effort and money to find out.
Ciao.

The models are described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4132
The macbook pro with problems has:
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,3
Model Number: MC118xx/A
And the logic board that i want to buy has:
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,3
Model Number: MB985xx/A
Are this logic board compatible?

Sep 24, 2014 3:26 PM in response to misticiniby OGELTHORPE,A MC118xx/A is a model identifier 5.4, not a model identifier 5.3. I cannot encourage you to try it. Visit an Apple store genius bar and ask the MBP technician. You might get good news.
Ciao.
