Q: Macbook Pro 15" 2.53GHZ mid 2009 Logic Board Compatibility

Hello,

I have a Macbook Pro 15" 2.53GHZ mid 2009 with random shutdowns problems as described here: Macbook Pro 15 " 2.53GHZ mid 2009 random shutdowns .

The conclusion is that the problem is hardware and almost 99% possibilities to came from logic board. So i want to know if a logic board 2.66GHZ with Apple PartNumber 820-2523-B is compatible with my macbook pro 15 (case and other stuff).

If it is from the same model identifier MBP, then the chances are good. If not, I would not risk the time effort and money to find out.

The models are described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4132

The macbook pro with problems has:
     Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,3
     Model Number: MC118xx/A

And the logic board that i want to buy has:
     Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,3
     Model Number: MB985xx/A

Are this logic board compatible?

A MC118xx/A is a model identifier 5.4, not a model identifier 5.3. I cannot encourage you to try it. Visit an Apple store genius bar and ask the MBP technician. You might get good news.
