Q: iPhone 6 Plus Volume

I recently purchased an iPhone 6 Plus and I noticed that the volume when on a call is very, very low. I turned the volume all the way up and there is still no improvement. When I had my iPhone 5S, I was able to actually turn down the volume because it was loud. Is anyone else having this problem?

Device: iPhone 6 Plus

Capacity: 128GB

Color: Black/Space Grey

*Phone volume is normal when on a call through Speakerphone or BT connection. Volume level problem is only experienced when using the ear piece.

I was having the same problem. I sent a text to my sales rep..... Because I couldn't have heard him on the phone. He called me on my cell and while the call was open had me hit the up volume on the side of the phone.  That is how to adjust that volume... Not in settings. The volume control in settings is for the ringtone, and other sund effects. It worked for my phone. Hope it works for yours.

Your kidding right?  Who doesnt know how to adjust the volume?  The problem is the volume is entirely too low whether you crank it all the way up.  I would hope im bright enough to turn the volume up before logging onto an Apple support forum.

I'm having the same problem. I used the hearing aid feautre in General Settings> Accessibility> Hearing Aids > Hearing Aid Mode which made it a little better but forgot about it when you try to put a protect case on the phone. I can barely hear the perosn on the other end.

Uupdate:  I gave up and took my iPhone 6 plus back to the Apple Store and they gave me a new one.  Works just fine now.  Still not as loud as my old 5 but better than it was.  My advice is go to your local Apple Store and get this issue properly logged.

I just received my 6 Plus today, and I'm having the same issue.  When playing a video or music the speaker volume can be increased to the point of being loud.  After making a few phone calls and putting the volume up to the max, it was still very low.  I had a 5S prior to the Plus and would never be able to put it up to max and keep it anywhere near my ear.

Ugh! I am also having the same problem! The volume is fine with the headphones or the speaker, but it's so low when just using the phone normally that I often can't hear well.  Is this something that can only be addressed by getting a new phone or making a hardware adaptation of some kind, or is it something that could be addressed with a software update in the near future?

I called Apple Support and they had me do both a soft and hard reset/ restore without using the saved backup. Neither worked, volume still too low. I live 1 1/2 hours from the nearest Apple Store. The good news, they are going to send me a new phone. The bad news, they charged me $29 for the express service and put an $800 hold on my credit card until they get my old phone back. I hope my phone was part of a bad batch and not a entire iPhone 6 Plus issue. I'll post the results when my new phone comes in.

My iPhone 6 Plus has low volume too through the earpiece. My iPhone 5s was much louder/clearer. I have a phone call scheduled with Apple on Sunday so I can report it.

Do you think a software update can fix this or is it a hardware fault?

This may be a really dumb point, but my wife kept the plastic film on her iPhone 6 while she waited for screen protectors to arrive.  Unsurprisingly, the plastic film really muffled inbound call volume.  Eating humble pie and peeling it off made a big difference to call volume!
