Q: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load  very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

PD

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

Thanks.

Yes, one of my clients replaced a group of phones with iPhone 6s on Monday.  Of them, over half the users say they have various problems from no service, to lockups like the iPad (and slow)...  The rest of the people seem happy with them.      So I don't know what to tell you.
The Apple store where they got them was swamped with people having issues, so they had to wait a long time to get help according to the girl who took a handful with her to try and get the issues resolved.

Thanks for getting back to me...good info....I don't have any real phone yet....yes, I am extremely slow here...using the old flip phone yet..can you believe that?

anyway with the new bigger iPhone I decided that maybe I would finally take that plunge!  Glad I have not rushed to it ....I have waited this long....I can certainly wait it out a bit longer....thanks again, your info has been the best for me.  I appreciate the time you have taken.

Are we just supposed to believe that because our machines are two or three years old that we have to upgrade to get rid of this problem? Does Apple really think that they have our back pockets that much. I could switch to another machine if they aren't going to fix this.

Apple Insider reports that Apple has stopped its support of iOS 7.1.2 firmware for iPad 2/iPhone 4s and up, and will no longer allow the option of downgrading.

UNless your device is still under warranty, or you fear breathing without Apple's approval, it doesn't matter much if they support an operating system.  If they refuse to allow its re installation, they are just admitting their intention for iPad 2 & pre-iPhone 6 owners is to buy a new device.

FYI, this site's links for 7.1.2 download are still open.   http://www.redmondpie.com/download-ios-7.1.2-for-iphone-ipad-direct-download-lin ks/

I did the 8.0.2 update on my iPad 2 and 3, and two iPhone 5's. The update went smoothly and seems to have made a positive difference so far.

Try switching off background update and the new online features of spotlight including bing search. on my iPad this helped a lot.

IiOS has nothing to do with your OSX device. Apple did not release a new version of OSX along with iOS 8 - we still have a short while to wait before OSX Yosemite. As for being treated like crap, there's no excuse for that. You may have experienced frustration on the part of the tech person who KNOWS that upgrading to iOS 8 on a really old ipad cannot adversely affect the performance of your MBP. I'm typing this on a really old ipad 2 running iOS 7 because I've learned to wait a while before installing the latest operating system on an older device.

I Was advised years ago to wait a while and read what the newest release will do to older devices before installing it. While we all think (hope) that everything should run smoothly on anything, that simply isn't the case. Unfortunately, our iPad 2's have been left on a barren hillside to die an unsupported death.

Has Apple disabled searching for certain items in the discussions area?????????

It has. I can't get into one I was contributing to. I mentioned the fact that my iPad 2 is very unpleasant to use now which has led to me just ordering a Samsung tablet. The 2 is a bit long in the tooth now but I wouldn't have changed it so soon and I would have ordered an Air other than this mess-up!

I guess access to this thread is in jeopardy now!

I like you have found replying I have been cut off here and there, but I did not attribute a conspiracy theory, only that it could be still a mess with the new update.

The thread was IPad 2 and IOS 8.0.2

It does not appear on the thread list (for me, at least) and if I try to access it from my notification emails, I get a page telling me that my "access to this place or content is restricted". This applies even if I try to access the thread through a notification which previously accessed it ok.

If you can see and read it it must be personal to me

besides that I am still experiencing glitches...in Safari.
