Q: Problems After update to iOS 8 on ipad 2

Hello community,

please pay attention when you update your iPad 2 from iOS 7 to 8. The whole useability of my iPad broke down and their are many problems using my iPad now. Everthing is really slow and I always need a restart to connect to my service provider with 3G. The following problems occurred on my iPad:

  • Safari is working realy slow and sometimes brake down
  • mail is also realy slow and most of the functions sometimes don't work or hang
  • 3G connection fails anytime you switch on the iPad and needs a restart

TO Apple:

please improve this version of iOS and submit your update asap, otherwise my iPad is not usable anymore and lose me as a customer.

thx.

+1 all of the above issues plus severe battery drain issue (got almost 2 days prior to any of the 8.0, 8.0.1, 8.0.2, now 7+/- hrs... Apple are you kidding me???)

After installing 8.0.2, my iPad 2 gets hopelessly hung up trying to copy apps back into it.  I haven't gotten far enough to see if it is slow.  It is still hung up in sync with iTunes trying to install app "Quick Scan" for last 2 hours.

Upgraded to iOS 8 on an iPad 2 a couple days ago, experience has been not good, very slow and non responsive, feels like a cheap tablet I got for my kids.. Needs to be fixed soon, or I'm getting a surface pro.

    I completely agree.

i've had my Ipad 2 for nearly 3 years now and always been quite happy with it.

Now, after the IOS8.0 and 8.02 upgrade, safari constantly breaks down. I get this message "a problem occurred with the website so it was reloaded".

i've never had this issue with my Ipad before and it's really starting to bug me.

I'm not entirely stupid, so I don't actually need to be given the error message, just as I don't need to be told what caused it, namely the upgrade.

What I would like is a fix to it, so Apple, start moving or it'll be Samsung next time...

Skydiver, it's rather useless to follow your suggestion. You can leave all the comments here you want. Apple doesn't answer though so what kind of support will you get there?

At least you are able to get to the APS store. Since I upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS 8 I have lost the ability to even get to the Aps Store or the iTunes Store. I also can't connect to the server so all I have left seems to be Mail. Even the request for my "Apple" password is terribly poorly phrased since I have no idea which password they want. I have different passwords for my Apple account, Apple Support Communities, iTunes, MAC Administrator and iCloud. I've tried them all and none of them work as it typically says I am not connected to the server. I hope someone can provide help but for now my iPad is no longer functional at all.

I'm sorry, but for those of you threatening AAPL with a switch to Android or MSFT tablets - even a crippled, ancient iPad 2 is better than those operating systems. I mean seriously, if your gonna spend money for a new tablet just get a modern iPad. Let's face it - our 2's have lived about as long as they can in technology years.

I had the exact same issues with my iPad 2 after installing iOS 8. iPad became unusable, sluggish and and in some cases unresponsive. Worst update I've ever experienced with Apple to date. There should have been better quality control done and a warning to iPad 2 users that performance would be severely diminished. Luckily I was able to find iOS 7.1.2 and reinstall before Apple stopped signing certificates. I was not able to restore the backup that I had done just before reinstalling 7.1.2 so I had to reload all apps by hand which was a minor inconvenience compared to dealing with iOS 8. I miss Steve Jobs. Quality has suffered since his passing.

I'm having exactly the same issues. Also, most of my Safari bookmarks saved to the home screen, now only appear as a grid icon and no thumbnail. This is incredible.

same with me, even after 8.0.2 update, ipad2 is slow and 3G connection keeps dropping out. Nothing seems to work apart from total restart to get it going again. I think maybe I will chuck iPad in the bin and go to Android tablet. Apple don't seem to care about customers enough to want to fix this. Pity because iPad  worked good on iOS 7.

MuckyDuck, that's not constructive. It's like saying a Rolls without engine is better than a working VW Beetle. The Rolls may still be more costly but the Beetle will take you from A to B so it'll do the job that the Rolls can't..
