Sep 27, 2014 3:32 AM in response to Brunnianby woodyrich,IOS 8.2 did NOT solve the problems for me. I did the 8.2 upgrade and restore. Nada!

Sep 27, 2014 3:47 AM in response to TheHajby Vestfold,Same here, "upgrading" to ios8 was the worst decision I've made with Apple. My ipad2 is a stuttering mess.
I will NEVERMORE upgrade to their latest software update until at LEAST 3-6 mos after release in the future. What a complete schemozzle.
Abysmal quality assurance on Apple's part. Their entire ios8 QA management team must be sacked for this titanic screw up. Using their customers as beta testers is ridiculous, but increasingly Apple's approach.
That's exactly why I went and bought an Android today and specifically avoided another stuttering, expensive Apple brick.

Sep 27, 2014 10:17 AM in response to TheHajby TheHaj,Well, I think I've concluded that the problem is lack of sufficient memory (RAM). I was able to get copy/paste to work if I shut down all programs, opened safari, copied, shut down safari, opened notes and pasted. Since I wasn't having the same issue on my iPhone 5, I installed an app to check RAM. The phone had about 300 MB of free RAM and the iPad, around 50 MB. I then turned off everything that may be using memory; background refresh, bluetooth, location services and dumped any podcasts that auto-downloaded and got the RAM up to just under 200 MB. The copy/paste problem seems to have gone away, although I'm left with a pretty useless iPad.

Sep 27, 2014 10:22 AM in response to TheHajby woodyrich,II've been checking my RAM all along. The IOS is eating it big time. All apps completely shutdown and while its designed with 512 RAM I am lucky to have 100+ avail with all apps completely turned off. The list of running processes in the same scenario is unbelievable.

Sep 27, 2014 10:40 AM in response to woodyrichby TheHaj,My app shows that the OS is taking up almost 100 MB alone. No wonder nothing works on my 512 MB iPad 2. Even with a new Air, you only have 1 GB total. We have one in our house and even it has suffered slowdowns with the new update.

Sep 27, 2014 1:03 PM in response to Brunnianby dexipur,Having the same problem even after ios8 upgrade.
Only thing I found to work is the single letter old fix; copy 1 letter, than paste, then do your intended copy
and hope for the best. Just went through total **** moving back and forth between Amz. & EB and had to keep
popping into my notebook to drop copy then check paste...no fun.

Sep 28, 2014 7:26 AM in response to Daniel Wajby JThaddeus,I this a fix also for iOS 8.0.2? BTW, I never installed an iOS 8 beta on my iPad2. I installed iOS 8 on release and have installed iOS 8.0.2 but the copy-paste bug persists.

Sep 28, 2014 1:45 PM in response to JuneTheSecondby serenissima7,Same problem, running 8.0.2 and my select + copy/paste doesn't work at all. It's constantly pasting old links and I have to highlight text multiple times to even get it to copy in the first place. A nightmare.

Sep 30, 2014 6:21 AM in response to TheHajby woodyrich,★HelpfulI am an iPAD2 user and I think it's important we are aware the problem not specific to a particular model of iPAD. Rather, it appears across the product line. As a result of IOS 8+ the OS is eating RAM like its a **** Pacman game!! My RAM is consistently in double digits and I only have one app installed which is Smart Memory Pro to monitor my RAM and Processes. I have all background settings turned off, notifications turned off and multitude of other services turned off. Does not improve free RAM.
I've now tested, with success thus far, that I have to free up RAM every time to clear out old data in clipboard to be able to effectively copy paste new data. Obviously not a solution, a PITA workaround. It also requires having to install an app capable of free'g up RAM. Having to revert to an addtl app takes up storage and creates more RAM consumption. It, too, is PITA, in that it does not automatically scan and constantly free up RAM. Freeing up RAM is a manual, user invoked task. An Apple bug fix should include auto free up RAM code built-in. We should not have to constantly take these extra steps to perform a simple process that is already part of the features nor have to download free or purchased apps to monitor and perform steps to compensate for IOS shortfall.
I was all set to upgrade to a IPhone 6 or 6+. Glad I did not. Also thought about upgrading iPad, but will not knowing these issues are across product lines.
On the crash information. I noticed in the Smart Memory Pro app some text info that indicates the app will refresh open apps (I assume means close) to avoid a crash of the iPad. I've also looked in my diagnostic data and can see references to various errors or crash. I assume the diagnostic data is correlated to my apps sporadically shutting down, which may very well be tied to RAM.
I would recommend if you do not have a free RAM app, download and monitor your RAM and see if you, too, are in double or low digits in comparison to your overall installed RAM regardless of iPAD model. I personally like Smart Memory Pro, but there is Free RAM and System Monitor App. (Think those are the names).
