Q: iPhone 6 Plus Screen Orientation Sticks

I have an iPhone 6 Plus, 64GB. I am having the followign issue:

My screen will either get stuck in landscape or upside down. Yes, I said upside down. There are times I will unlock the the phone and when the home screen comes up, everything is upside down, just like an iPad would be when you turn it around. Even when I spin the phone around, trying to get it to turn the screen, it won't rotate the icons. I hit the power button, and unlock it again, but it doesn't always fix it. Last time it was stuck, I had to power the phone off and back  on before it would work right again.

I have checked the orientation lock button, and it is not activate.

I have checked to see if my screen is regular or zoom and it is set to regular.

Anyone else seeing this? I wonder if it is a bug with hardware that controls orientation?

I'm getting the exact same issue on my iPhone 6 (4.7") 128GB running iOS 8.0. Screen often in the wrong orientation after unlocking - usually turning it 90degrees and back again fixes it temporarily. During the time the orientation is wrong, the on-screen items also don't really work properly. I've read iOS 8.0.2 doesn't fix this issue, but will try updating to it tonight anyways.

I have noticed strange screen orientation after unlocking as well.  (Iphone 6, 64gb)

I'll have the phone upright, but when I unlock it, the phone will be 90degrees off.  Sometimes this is fixed by turning the phone, other times I have to leave the app that it's in.

However, I'm only noticing this issue when I have an app with a keyboard pulled up, like messages or an IM app.

HI I'm having same issue with my iPhone 6 64gb orientation sticking in landscape when I go to texts/iMessage.  A text or an iMessage is received and I use touchscreen to open my phone and I find the screen is in landscape mode.  I have to press home button and then go back to messages for the orientation to go back to portrait.  I'm hoping Apple can do a fix as it's frustrating.  Otherwise love the iPhone 6.

I've been having the same issue as well.  Called into Apple support.  They say it's not in their 'recurring issue database' but recommend anyone who's seeing the problem consistently to call in.

Since I've performed a hard reset of the 6 Plus, I haven't had the issue recur (yet).  The AppleCare representative gave me a case number and asked that, if I see it again, to call in under that case number and let Apple know.  That way they'll be better able to track the issue.  I'd suggest you all do the same. The better they're able to track the issue, the more likely we'll see a proper fix for it.  The rep wasn't sure if it would be a software or hardware issue, or some combination of the two.

Same problem. It's ios8. Not hardware issues. Easiest fix until they patch it, close out of all open apps in multitask and reopen the app. orientation should return to normal.

Yeah having the same problem with 6 plus, I've corrected it by rebooting. Still, Apple needs to address this glitch

I have been having the same issue for days. They told me to reset the phone and delete everything and install every app from app store.  They told me not to restore my phone from the backup from my previous iPhone 5.  I did exactly as told and I still have this issue.  If you put the phone on landscape mode, it will get stuck like that for a while.  I will bring the phone again to Genius bar tomorrow and see what they say.   It is very frustrating.

I've been having same issue with iOS8.02 and iP6+.  Screen orientation is stuck in landscape or upside down when I go to home screen.  Also this happens in iMessage.  To correct the issue, I've had to power off and on.  I've tried the reset all settings and still experience it.  This is an issue with iOS8.0.2 or 8.0.  Needs to be fixed.
