If you are having issues with your iPhone not rotating when it should, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Specifically this section -
Display does not go into landscape mode
- Remember that photos, webpages, and applications will not change viewing-orientation modes when iPhone is lying flat. Hold iPhone vertically to switch between portrait and landscape modes or vice versa.
- Verify that rotation lock is not on.
- To test, open the Calculator application while holding the iPhone vertically (portrait mode). The standard calculator should appear. Then rotate the iPhone to a horizontal position (landscape mode), and the scientific calculator should appear.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Best,
Brett L

Sep 29, 2014 2:02 PM in response to Brett Lby Bob Krugmire,Thanks much! We went through the troubleshooting steps with no positive results on the first attempt, but after a second reset, the non-rotating issue was resolved! Very weird, as usual the funky behavior is typically fixed following the steps as you suggested! Thanks for the reply and have a great day!
