Sep 26, 2014 5:36 AM in response to XianNewmanby XianNewman,Strangely, 12 hours later, one shortcut has appeared on my iPad now. Still waiting for two others to appear on both iPad and iPhone, and for a delete to appear on my Mac. Could it just be extremely slow iCloud sync?

Sep 26, 2014 6:22 AM in response to XianNewmanby KevinC,Well, could be iCloud related... but for me, my iCloud is completely OFF. I do all backups myself so don't want or need iCloud. Seeing that the new keyboard "features" in IOS8 have broken other things (such as Pioneer AppRadio 3), I'm leaning towards believing this is the culprit. Nonetheless, the more of us that give Apple feedback, the better.... https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Sep 27, 2014 4:06 PM in response to beatrizarcerby Pushda,I think I have the fix. Updated all my devices to iCloud Drive. I then did an iCloud backup to all the devices. Now my keyboard shortcuts are back on all devices. Hope it works for all of you.

Sep 28, 2014 1:21 AM in response to zcherriesby spanishguy,I have the same problem. All Keyboard Shortcuts on my iPhone 6 are gone - they're all available on my Mac and iPad Air. I've followed the suggestions closing all apps and rebooting the device but they didn't come back. Also turning on/off documents didn't have any effect.
The interesting thing is - that I can create a shortcut on the iPhone 6 - and those get synced - so they're available then on my Mac and iPad Air - but the iPhone 6 doesn't get the other shortcuts back. Also if I delete the shortcuts on my iPad Air/Mac - they disappear on both devices - but remain on the iPhone 6 (where they were initially created). So it seems syncing back from iCloud is the problem on the iPhone 6...
I've called Apple-Support and they were completely useless telling me the sync of the Shortcuts happens only through iTunes and a backup... Sure Thing!
Kind of annoying without shortcuts though. Also 8.02. didn't have any effect on having them back...

What/how exactly is this "Updated all my devices to iCloud Drive."? My iCloud settings are all like before and yet this issue has remained.

Sep 28, 2014 5:44 AM in response to webbadgerby MightyMac,iCloud drive is a more manageable file system that takes over iCloud documents and data sync. It gives the user granular control of files going in and out of their iCloud account. A lot more like DropBox. Unfortunately, for Mac users not running Yosemite betas, updating to iCloud drive on iOS will break syncing with OS X Mavericks apps using iCloud Documents & Data sync. Not an option for me. I hope that updating to iCloud drive does fix the issue, but I sense this is more or less related to the implementation of third party keyboards, more than anything else. Something is hiding these shortcuts and disabling them. I think at least one person in this thread using Windows has already updated all their devices to iCloud Drive, and still has this ongoing issue. I just hope this gets fixed with Yosemite. I don't want to give up QuickType for Text Expander just to have my stuff back. This is the first real issue with iCloud that I've actually had that has lingered, unless you count iTunes Match. Apple Support is wrong if they think that iTunes syncs these shortcuts. This is through iCloud, much like Keychain and Automator actions. Lots of cool syncing features are automatic. I hope by 8.1 (due in October w/ Pay), this is all resolved. Yosemite should be out by October 23rd (based on Apple's release pattern), so the Mac users in this thread will know if iCloud Drive works it all out then.

Sep 28, 2014 6:53 AM in response to MightyMacby GeoFan49,Again, all my keyboard shortcuts were a-okay on Sunday, gone on Monday, back on Tuesday, gone again Wednesday morning, and back Wednesday afternoon... Ok on Saturday morning... GONE on Sunday morning (today.)
Latest update: did a sync with my MacBook Pro and updated from iOS 8.0.0 to iOS 8.0.2 on Saturday afternoon (yesterday.)
I backup my iPad to my Mac, not icloud. Usually download apps via iTunes on mac, then sync, every few days, or when updated apps is more than 10 or 15.
As of now, Sunday morning... Was also Seen before:
In Settings... General... Keyboard... Shortcuts. I see all my shortcuts in the list... But they do NOT work with the standard ipad keyboard in the Notes app, or anywhere else. Last reboot: yesterday, after the update to 8.0.2.
... IPad Air ... Keyboard shortcuts... random and intermittent... Keyboard very sluggish and LAGGY.
Rebooting does NOT help... a temporary iCloud server issue?

Sep 28, 2014 6:51 AM in response to GeoFan49by MightyMac,Same experience here. I hope it is an iCloud server issue and caused by the iCloud Drive transition. Macros are a power user feature that I reckon most are not aware of. Better if it is a server issue that gets corrected rather than an actual bug. I imagine as Apple triages bugs that are inevitable with such a massive architectural change that iOS 8 entails, keyboard shortcuts will be low priority. At least we know our shortcuts are somewhere amidst a silver lining.

Sep 28, 2014 10:00 AM in response to webbadgerby Pushda,iCloud Drive is the new way to share/store docs between devices. It essentially replaces Docs in iCloud. Once I updated my devices to iOS8 and Drive, I did a backup to iCloud on said devices. Then my keyboard shortcuts came back on all of my devices.

Sep 28, 2014 5:05 PM in response to spanishguyby oakmeal,What is the # to Apple Support?
This is beyond crazy. I have tried everything mentioned here and nothing works. Restart works for a few but then disappears again. #DISAPPOINTED.

Sep 29, 2014 8:52 AM in response to beatrizarcerby sdabjmoore,I had this problem. This may be an iCloud drive issue. All my shortcuts disappeared on new iPhone 6 plus, but when i upgraded my phone and one other device to the iCloud drive they were synced again and reappeared on my phone.

Sep 29, 2014 8:56 AM in response to oakmealby Pushda,It fixed immediately after I did an iCloud backup. This was after I switched over to iCloud Drive.

Oct 1, 2014 10:07 PM in response to beatrizarcerby joopitertwo,Ok, So you may not want to hear this, I had the exact same problem. Forever rebooting to get my keyboard shortcuts back only for them to disappear 5 mins later.
I switched off the documents & Data, still no relief. HOWEVER, I decided to test it by setting up 1 short cut again and see what happens. And it has not disappeared, and it is now 1 week later.
So in short I have re-entered all my shortcuts and they have stayed. The only thing I haven't done is have them sync with icloud. I prefer to have my shortcuts on my phone not my Mac so it's not an issue for me.
Hope this helps anyone.
