Q: How do I back up Contacts from iPhone to PC

I am under the impression (perhaps mistaken) that the Contacts on my iPhone can be backed up onto my Windows 7 Home Premium PC so as to appear in the Contacts Folder.

How do I do this?

I have tried going through the procedure of launching iTunes (11.1.0.126) connecting my iPhone 4 (iOS 7.0.2) clicking the iPhone button and in the window that opens below selecting back up to this computer. That ran through apparently OK, but the Contacts from my iPhone were not transferred to the Contacts Folder on my PC.

Can this be done?

If so how?

I have backed up to iCloud but also would like to back up my Contacts to my PC.

Transferring iPhone contacts to PC is rather easy if you know the methods to backup an iPhone.

If you want to know how to transfer contacts from iPhone to computer, there are many tutorials available on Internet. Among them, I recommend this:

    1. From a computer where the contacts are stored, create a new email with the vCard attachment that you created from the Contacts app Export function, or whatever other app is used to store your contacts

    2. Send the Vcard (vcf) file attachment to yourself at the email address setup on the iPhone

    3. Open the email containing the contacts on the iPhone and tap on the vCard.vcf file attachment

    4. Tap on “Add All # Contacts” to import the address book to the iPhone* – this may take a moment depending on how large the address book is and how many contacts that are in the vcard file

    Hi, Wendy

Here is how to transfer contacts from iPhone to computer.

    - Open i-tunes on your computer that you sync it to

    - Plug in your phone to the computer

    - open "Address book" window's address book program. Kinda lame, but it works. Its under start-programs-accessories

    - Back to iTunes, click on the phone icon on the left

    - Click on the Info, and under "Contacts" (the first one) check "sync contacts from" and then pick "Windows address book" from the drop down menu

    - Click all contacts

    - Then at the bottom right of iTunes, click "Sync" It will ask you if you want to merge or replace. Make sure you select "MERGE" or it will delete your contacts on the phone.

In fact, it is easy to backup contacts from iPhone to PC via iCloud: Go to "Settings">"iCloud" and log in your Apple id. Once it is done, Toggle the "Contacts" slider ON. It will be green when enabled. This will automatically back up all of your iPhone contacts from your Contacts app to your iCloud storage.

working in medical field cannot under HIPPA allow contacts or photos of clients on cloud so I need contact on my local pc only.  the only thing I can see for this to work is an app COPYTRANS that allows contacts to be uploaded to my pc and not go through cloud. Is there no other way to not use cloud??

I found an app COPYTRANS that works only with a PC to upload your contact list from iPhone to pc.  I have a HIPPA issue with my contacts and photos and cannot allow them on the cloud backup. This is the only way to have direct control of the information. Working in the medical field I cannot allow this information on the cloud. I am sure there are many others under the same issue.
