Oct 1, 2014 6:59 AM in response to The_Middlemanby Pavla007,I totally agree with you. The only outcome of this iAndroid update are another useless applications which only take up space and a non-functional brick instead of a functional phone.
I was on the verge of buying other Apple products. Now...I am seriously reconsidering it. If this is the path the company has chosen to take, I am not interested in their stuff.

Oct 2, 2014 5:32 AM in response to Pavla007by kentster2010,I had the same problem with the battery so I contacted Apple support via chat. They had me upload diagnostic info to them and their recommendation was wipe the phone completely, restore the phone via iTunes and setup as a new phone. The tech's thought was downloading the update via Wifi caused some corruption of the iOS 8 update. This whole process took me about 4 hours between diagnosing with Apple and then wiping the phone, downloading the update, etc. It did clear the problem up completely though. I have everything re-enabled again and the battery issue went away. I also let the battery drain from 100% to 0% right after restoring the phone so it would get a chance to re-calibrate where fully charged and discharged were.
It was kind of a POA not being able to restore from backup but it wasn't that bad to set up everything again. My problem is completely resolved.

Oct 3, 2014 11:38 AM in response to The_Middlemanby Hossdawson ,There is an update available but why should I trust that it wouldn't be worse?

Oct 3, 2014 5:50 PM in response to Hossdawsonby iRoane,I permanently fixed the battery drainage problem by replacing the Apple apps with the Gmail app, Chrome app and Google Map app.
My battery usage is now better than it ever was before!
Google seems to know something that Apple doesn't.

Oct 3, 2014 6:20 PM in response to Tommyvercettiby iRoane,Hum... My #1 hog now is the phone App.
Waiting for a Google phone app for iPhone.
Did some research: apparently we can get a Google voice number and use it with Google Hangout and use data/wifi instead of LTE (much better energy usage). Anybody tried that?
Given that all my iPhone apps are now Google, and Apple does not acknowledge their problems, I will not order the iPhone6.
Apple managed to convince me otherwise. I will start looking at Google product specs now. They seem more efficient from this first time exposure.

Oct 4, 2014 7:36 AM in response to The_Middlemanby The_Middleman,Apple agreed to look at the phone at the Apple Store, out of warranty. I have to say that this is good customer service on their part, I'm happy about that. The out come will determine if the next phone I buy is Apple or Samsung, but they seemed to take my issue seriously. A step in the right direction!

Oct 19, 2014 10:59 AM in response to raghuseeth1by Catman4115,i am having a battery drain issue as well with my iPhone 5 on ios 8.0.2. I have tried disabling everything including background app refresh, handoff and location sharing. Also tried resetting all settings several times and setting up as new device. I am only able to get 4-5 hrs of uptime on a charge. It used to be 6-7 before. Also my cell reception is definitely worse since the update.

Oct 26, 2014 11:17 AM in response to Loftyexponentby AndyLockhart,If your battery is draining in three or four hours see if you are sync'ing contacts, email etc from Google within the standard Apple apps, under Settings-> Mail, Contacts, Calendars. When I disable this my battery life goes back to how it was in IOS7. What gets me is the arrogance of Apple in not letting people downgrade.
