Q: With 802, copy/paste no longer works on my iPad. Which of course also suffers from extreme slowness.

Can I downdate the iPad iOS to 7? That one worked.

no iOS device ever officially supported downgrade

Re: downdate. I know. I was being sarcastic.

    RE: c/p

Let's say I copy a url from the email function of safari, and then try to paste it into Twitter.  What gets pasted is something I've copied previously.

I've tried testing the copy IN the email. It sometimes is right. Then I go to Twitter, paste, and get… the old text.  clear? Then again, sometimes it works. But most often not.

There is also a lag, I click the icon of an app and sometimes have to wait 3-5 seconds for the ipad to react.

Updated to 8.1, but the problems persist with the iPad. Does anybody have any ideas?

Quite seriously, if I cannot get a solution to this problem, I shall never buy another iPad again as long as I live.

Yeah ... reset your iPad to its factory default condition, with iTunes on your computer, and don't restore your backup just yet, to test it out and see how it works, when it doesn't have any of your data on it.

Be sure to do your backup before you start fiddling around. Also, turn off any anti-virus software on your computer for this process. The following are so,e links regarding backups and then the last one is for resetting to factory default.

Hello.  I did as you suggested, and copy/paste seems to work in the "brand-new" state. Have you any ideas about which data/apps I should get rid of to be able to use everything after my "Restore"?

Well I have read that there was one particular app that was causing a problem, but there could be others which were not reported. The one I saw was The Wall Street Journal. If you don't have that one, then it's going to have to be a hit or miss affair to discover it.

BUT I'm glad to hear that it's been restored to a working state at this point!

There is an update coming out soon that may also help address this issue of errant apps causing trouble. It's 8.1.1 ... but Apple doesn't announce these things ahead of time, so we'll have to wait and see on this upcoming revision.

I restored, and it seemed to be working.  Then I went to Mail, and hundreds and hundreds of old emails were downloaded.  And the ipad seemed to slow down.  Jeez.

I don't have the Wall Street app.  I think it's all that wasted space in Mail that might be to blame.

    Thanks for your help.
