Q: Formatting Footers and Headers

I have the following problem:

I want to add footers. I want to have some text on the right, in the middle and on the left. Now I am lucky, because Pages 5 has three boxes, where I can put in text. The only problem is, however, when you have text, that is bigger than the width of the box. The text will cut off. But if I click inside the box twice, the text appears across all three boxes. However, when I scroll up or down to a different section (with different footers) and go back to my first section, the text is cut off again.

This is what it looks like.

Here you can see the layout. And when I click inside the middle textbox, the text will be shown complete.

But now, when I scroll up a section and go back, the text will be cut off like in the first image.

Is there any way, to adjust the column width of the headers and footers, so that the text has enough space?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), Pages 5.2.2

One of the many bugs in this forum is not being able to see uploaded images, so I can only suggest placing returns in the footers. The text boxes should adjust vertically to allow for extra text.

another bug is, that I didn't receive an email, that somebody responded to my question.

Well the problem is, that the text box should adjust horizontally. vertically is no problem, I can use returns (as you already suggested).

    Another try for the images:

I was able to replicate your problem, and it would appear that if you use the 3 (or even 2) text boxes, text will be cut off from the middle text box if it doesn't fit the width.

I would suggest starting at the first text box and use tabs for the rest of the text.

"Luckily" Pages 5.2.2 has over 110 missing features and a long list of bugs, "luckily".

Ok Peter, I think we all know it. And even Apple knows it. Could you stop posting this?

Everyone knows, that there are lots of missing features in iWork 13.

Hi picas. I had the same thought. Maybe there will be a fix in the Yosemite version.

If "even Apple knows it" it hasn't reached the people in AppleCare or the Apple Stores.

But more importantly most of the users don't, nor quite a few offering advice here.

This forum is very shallow. It is rare for users to ever go past their own post let alone even the the last days postings.

Which is why it has to be repeated.

I know, I am missing those features as well. But I don't think Apple is going to do something, if somebody repeats it in there discussion forums.

I don't know, but they're not like Adobe.

Why don't you use Apple's feedback page to provide feedback. I think Apple listens to the feedback page more than to the forum.

I maintained a detailed blog with all the bugs, fixes and omissions and provided Apple with that, because it is a moving feast.

It is a year down the track now, and this is what it is going to be with only minor changes. The programmers are probably working on stuffing up Aperture's successor now.

All I am waiting on is for third party developers, like Serif, to step into the breech, then can toss Pages/iWork permanently. It will go into the Museum of Trashed Apple Software.

Then I assume you bought Affinity Designer yesterday.

I did, but this is off topic.

Yes I did. I've been playing with it for a while.

This is about excited as I have been for quite a long while, and such a change to actually have something that is an actual improvement!

I've been recommending for a while that Pages users try Serif PagesPlus in emulation. Apple has hashed the whole area of desktop publishing or almost anything work related, because its current users are uncomfortable with anything that involves competence or skills.

Well I think once the iPad and iCloud.com are more powerful, iWork should get it's features back. I think they don't want to add new features which won't work on iPad and iPhone. Most iWork "users" may just have an iPad and have never heard of the mac.

Well there's the joke, there still isn't parity between the Mac and iOS versions, so there is even more dumbing down to be done.

The biggest stuff up is how they have made it so hard to exchange files between all Mac/iOS users let alone the outer world of PC users.

Using iCloud and eMail only leads to more problems and damaged files.

I wouldn't trust my laundry list to this fakatza software!

Create a text box in the body-> cut and paste from footer to text box-> drop the text box into footer-> done.
