Q: Wifi sync does not recognize device, unless I rename it.
Wifi sync with my iPhone 5 was working fine. Then, out of the blue, it stopped showing up in iTunes. I tried all the trouble shooting I would find here and on Google and nothing. Then I renamed it from "Marcelo's iphone 5" to simply "iPhone". Then it showed up! I tried renaming it to "Marcelo's iPhone" and it still showed up. So I decided to try the original name and changed it back to "Marcelo's iPhone 5" and it disappeared again... Why?
I want it named "Marcelo's iPhone 5" and nothing ele. My iPad is named "Marcelo's iPad 2" and it works fine. I want all my devices to follow this naming structure.
How can I make iTunes forget all my wifi sync devices so that I can name my devices whatever I want and still have it sync over wifi correctly?
I'm using iTunes 11.4 on a mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro
My iPad 2 and iPhone 5 are both using iOS 8.0.2
iPhone 5, iOS 8, iOS 8.0.2

I had a similar issue with my device not being shown at all after I got a new iphone. What worked for me was deleting previously backed up versions in itunes from my old phone. Once I deleted those backups and restarted itunes, my new phone immediately showed up as a device. Hope that helps!
