Aug 29, 2014 1:32 PM in response to StefanQcby alexloise, try to select the computer cd/dvd autorun off.
I had the same problem, then Kaspersky software found a conflict suggesting me this solution.
Itunes now works...even if it always asks to set the cd/dvd autorun on when lunched.

Oct 6, 2014 2:42 AM in response to alexloiseby i eye,Hi,
I have the same problem, so how do you select the computer cd/dvd autorun off ?
And apart from having a message at startup, are there any issues when you get the data execution protection message on shutdown? What I really mean is what happens when you get this message DEP on shut down, What does it do to iTunes or your music library, anything?
Thanks for your kind response in advance

Oct 6, 2014 6:35 AM in response to i eyeby turingtest2,Change autorun behaviour in Windows Vista: http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/967715
For the Vista/DEP on iTunes shutdown issue see this thread: Windows Vista problem reports after latest Itunes 11.2 update - not fixed, but others have the same issue. It seems accessing the iTunes Store at some point prevents the crash on shutting iTunes.

Oct 12, 2014 9:31 PM in response to i eyeby Johnny DEP,After seeing Bill-Taylor's response, I decided to try alexloise's suggestion to see if it would solve the relatively minor Vista/DEP on iTunes shutdown issue. The short answer seems to be "no," at least in my case. The Microsoft link that turingtest2 posted gave me a big headache, but did not show me how to disable AutoRun for the CD/DVD drive. (If I understand correctly, other types of AutoRun should already be disabled if all Important and Recommended Windows updates have been installed.) So I tried the registry edit suggested in this article: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2254345,00.asp. Only then did I see the iTunes notification mentioned by alexloise:
Unfortunately, I continue to see the familiar DEP notifications when exiting iTunes 11.4.
