Oct 6, 2014 8:17 AM in response to SGPMAP13by lucafromka,Hi,
with OSX Yosemite, Apple eliminated iPhoto for OS X to replace it by an app simply called "Photos", which should have nearly the same features. So, they probably wanted to keep iOS and Mac OS the same... I think that the functionalities that came with iPhoto for iOS will come to the Photos app with an update of iOS. This could take a while, because Yosemite isn't released yet, the Photos app for OS X will definitely take some time to come... So it seems best to wait until they introduce the new "photos"-app features, they will find there way to iOS.
Greetings
L.

There is not any promise to provide more advanced "Photos" features with future releases on apples web page: http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/photos/
However, Developers can expand the Photos.app, see:

Photo Editing
Developers can embed their filters and editing tools directly into the Photos app. So you could apply third‑party effects to images without leaving the app where you view your photos.
I think, we will have to wait for third-party extensions. http://appleinsider.com/articles/14/07/03/inside-app-extensions-the-cloud-kit-sa vvy-photos-future-of-apples-iphoto-aperture
The first screenshot of "Photos" on a Mac does not show much more than Photos on iOS: See this TechCrunch article with a screenshot: http://9to5mac.com/2014/06/27/apple-to-replace-aperture-and-iphoto-with-photos-f or-os-x-early-next-year/
