Oct 7, 2014 11:49 PM in response to Mr.Coopby K Shaffer,You'd have to check the actual build model identification to tell what you have
because what you found is the copyright of Macintosh/OS, not your build info.
•How to identify MacBook Pro models
When you know what you have, the previous information in the link about AirPlay
in the earlier posted reply, can more readily be useful to resolve the question...
There also are ways to identify by serial number, the build year, sales order info
and model more directly; as it relates to the build identifier and series life.
everymac.com has product info across entire model years, referenced variously
http://mactracker.ca is a free download database across most products from Apple
Hopefully that will be of assistance...
Good luck & happy computing!

Oct 8, 2014 5:28 AM in response to Mr.Coopby t.moe,Hi Mr. Coop,
K Shaffer has your on the right track - you'll have to figure out which Macbook Pro model you have and compare it to the earlier link.
There is a hardware requirement, so the version of OSX is not really relevant unless it has never been updated from the time it was bought new.
Hope that helps!

PS Thanks adding the additional info, K.

Oct 8, 2014 12:00 PM in response to t.moeby K Shaffer,Essentially, if the computer is fully capable of running Mavericks, it should
be able to install AirPlay which is part of that installation. A few models on
the edge could support earlier versions of Mavericks, but not so much now.
Some do not support all aspects of the Mavericks 10.9 builds due to hardware.

Going forward, there is less about older OS X versions and more 10.9.5 here:
http://www.apple.com/support/osx/
And if one can identify what model build year is in question there are easy answers.
The copyright covers dates up to the last system build year, or 2012. Not hardware.
