Oct 8, 2014 10:56 PM in response to JBrownMDby stevecloud75,More than likely, you have both a 2nd and a 3rd Generation unit. Both are the same form factor, but have different internals. The newest update will work on the 3rd generation (newest Apple TV), but not on the 2nd. My guess is that this is the reason for one of them not updating. Much the same as the iPhone 4 not being able to update to iOS8.

Nov 26, 2014 12:41 PM in response to JBrownMDby Southbounnorthstar,I have this happening as well. I am using a Gen 2 ATV which is currently on Software version 5.0.2. Everything I read says it can go much higher than that.
When I select update software it says "Software is up to date".
How do I force an update or fix this issue?
