Q: Dictation not working in Pages in iOS 8

Come on apple...been patiently waiting for dictation in pages to be put right.....l keep hoping.........the work around, I'm sad to say barely works....still freezes up....but thanks for trying.....

Found this posting and wanted to just add to this.

Pretty much all the symptoms and problems mention ALSO apply to my iPad and using "Numbers"!   Have a custom spreadsheet (been using for years)  I use for tracking. I capture record for each Date and dictate my notes into a large comment field. Everything had been working fine right up to when I installed iOS8.

I have Pages (same problems), but my point is I don't think it's a Pages or Numbers thing...I think it's more about iOS8+ and Siri. It's the Upgrade (I'm at 8.0.2  that seems to be what brought on the issue.  I / WE could all really use the problem resolved. I need my tracking app back!

Has anyone else heard any ETA for a fix??

and one other thing I saw a note about hitting "RETURN" as a workaround ....but there no RETURN on my Numbers keypad ...just "NEXT" which takes you to next field....has anyone found a work around to use with Numbers??

I'm hoping for an update next week when they are likely to release iOS8.1 along with the new iPad.

I'm also hoping they'll fix the bug which deletes all Numbers and Pages documents if you do a reset all settings (please back up your documents elsewhere and not trust iCloud)!

Here are three sad realities: (1) iOS 8 has effectively ruined iWork's functionality. (2) Apple never seems to hint at  their progress on problems or the contents of their software fixes before release.  (3) If one has the capability to migrate to  (dare I say it) Word  and other Microsoft Office software on his handheld devices, he will endure, until Apple addresses this travesty, much less frustration than we are currently.

Hi, I can help with Pages.

• Make sure pages has finished updating.
• Hit Return Key
• Then the microphone
• Works for me

Siri works on my iPhone and my iPad with the above maneuvers.  There is still a problem which is evidenced by the straight non-wavy line and the ACTIVE Siri WAVY line.

Just to let you know that with the latest update to Pages, the problem is FIXED!! I've been using it for 2 days, and it works like a dream!

Right you are, thanks! One wishes that Apple would have thought to inform us all. Separate inquiry: do you dictate into the Pages app and, if so, how do you direct capitalization?

I have the same problem. All was working until last week when I downloaded the newest software. Now I dictate about 10 words and it cuts off. I am used to dictationg long messages in iCalendar and can no longer do. Apple needs to get on this. I hate it when the upgrade gives you new problems!!

The same thing has been happening to me.  It is clearly not fixed!
