Q: FCP7 lost and the rest [Compressor]: anyone want to resell or suggest alternatives?

Hi,

I'm using FCP7 and therefore Compressor 3.5 is a must tool. My problem starts soon after picked up my Mac from assistance following a problem with the chip board. Everything work fine except Compressor 3.5: basically it doesn't allowed to submit project and the "Submit" tab is constantly greyed out [see pic]

ve looked many forums and called Apple support but the only simple solution is reinstall the all software.

Here the problem: I haven't got the packaging with me so no installations CDs, nothing at all as Ive lost it while moving home!

So I can i reinstall it without?

How can I create a image to reinstall it [if possible!]?

Can I just purchase an other one? [but looks very difficult to find as Apple do not want to know about this product anymore preferring advertise and sell the new FCPX with Compressor 4].

Anyone with any idea, please?

Thanks Un.tiff

Have you tried Digital Rebellion's excellent free app, Compressor Repair?

    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/compressorrepair/

You could also try Pro Maintenance Tools (from the same company) which have a free working demo.

    Hi

thanks for your reply.  Personally,  Im reluctant to download those type of software, cause i usually perform the "cleaning" myself. Missing file may be the problem but I would like to find other alternative routes. Im actually considering to get a new FCP7 packaging, but difficult to find.

    Thanks

You need have no worries about using Compressor Repair as Digital Rebellion's products are highly regarded by all users of FCP.

To help with "new"  FCP packages are you based in the USA, UK or where?

shouldn't be a problem.   but if you're worried, get another drive and create a bootable clone of your startup drive.  Carbon Copy Cloner will do it.  If things go south, you can clone back and restore your startup drive to it's previous state.   And it's a really good idea to have a clone of your startup drive anyway.

Here's a user tip about why and how to clone

Why you should clone your startup drive and how to...

    hi,

but if I do create a copy of this software, will it work? I mean; if now isn't working now, why it should later?

I was responding to your previous post in which you said

"Do you reckon this repair can be performed by the software you mentioned  without reinstalling the all software? This is what  worry me."

If you clone your startup drive, if Compressor Repair causes any problems, you can restore your system to it's previous state.

I see. by the way I did restore the all system, and Compressor still giving trouble.

I just wish to reinstall the all system without buying the all packaging again.
