Q: iPad 2 with iOS 8.0.2 - still no service

Yesterday i updated my iPad 2 with iOS 8.0.2. Today the same bug: no service after a couple of hours. Its not a good user experience if you are on the way or in a meeting with a customer and you can't use internet because of no service.

Apple has released iOS 8 with support for the good old iPad 2, but seems not interested in fixing this bug. Its a shame. Over years i'am a satisfied customer of Apple products, but in last time i am not very satisfied. Apple has to confirm and to fix this bug. On my bug report in Apple Bug Reporter still no reaction.

I had this problem on my ipad2.  At the first trip to the genius bar he sent me to AT&T for a new sim card.  That did not work.  At the second trip to the genius I bought a replacement ipad2 for 250 which had ios 7.  I (stupidly) upgraded to 8.0.2 and now the problem is back!  So clearly no one at Apple (or at least at the apple store I go to) knows about this problem.  I guess I can return this one for a new one and not update...

SOmeone on this forum posted that those of us with iPad 2s and 3s that were messed up by the software upgrade will get a chance to trade for a refurbished equivalent from the Mac store,

ditto.  upgraded to 8.0, 8.0.1, and 8.0.2.  no cell service, without power cycle.  it loses track of a link with my iphone after a while as well, but I can get that back by cycling the hsaring on the iphone.

yes this work aournd does work.  dumb but works.  however, you have to be on a wifi or something to get icloud to log in or you get a notice saying passowrd incorrect (even though it really was just not connected to the internet).

    this is a frustrating update.

9/10 times it has worked for me while no on wi fi. Coincidentally or not while the iPad is in portrait view, just hit your account name, no need to try and sign in,  and wait up to 10 secs or so for the celluar status to kick into searching mode and restore cellular. it's a joke that no fix has been issued.

Hello! iPad 2 user from Sweden here.

I can confirm this problem is very much global. Highly frustrating!

I've submitted this problem to Apple. Do the same!   >>>>>>>> http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

    Thank you for the link.

I am having the exact same issue on my iPad 2 running IOS 8.0.2 with AT&T service.  I sent feedback reporting the issue and requested they fix it ASAP!

It's important that we report the fault officially. http://www.apple.com/feedback/  I suggest each user with the problem report it to Apple AND their carrier. The problem is worldwide so if 50 or 100 carriers also start passing complaints to Apple it might get us a quicker fix. 8.1 is likely to be launched before Apple's next product launch on 16 Oct. let's just hope it has a fix for us.

I Believe the issue (or a variation) affects more modern devices too.  My iPhone 5c regulRly looses 4G and 3G connectivity and drops back to EDGE or GPRS. Switching to Airplane Mode and back is the quickest fix if you are stationary. As some connectivity is still present, if mobile, it sorts itself out when you move to a new cell tower.

Same problems here at a bunch of iPads. Anyone tried to send feedback? I miss any kind of submit button.

Wonder if Apple already removed the button because of massive feedback

Same problem here - iPad 2, iOS 8.0.2, Vodafone UK (London). I also had this issue with 8.0.1

Feedback submitted. Submit button was missing in Chrome, but present in IE!

Indeed, submit button is showing up using Safari and Firefox as well. Just this tiny crew of Chrome using geeks can't submit feedback...

    Filed a bug therefore too.

I'm running the actual Beta of iOS 8.1 on my iPad 2 and for four days, i have cellular network. It looks like Apple has fixed this issue in iOS 8.1.

That's great news. HOw is the speed? Can you open all the things we've had to close to make ours function?

APple might have fixed this issue, but they'll never get back the trust of a core group of users.
