Q: bluetooth not available

my bluetooth icon on the toolbar has a zig zag through it and the bluetooth settings are missing from system preferences.

I have tried to restart it does nothing. I have also tried to delete the plist file and shut down that also does not help. i have temporarly fixed it by resetting my SMC.

I haven't updated my mac in a while because i am scared i will loose everything.
