Oct 14, 2014 8:24 PM in response to Sun225by Carolyn Samit,Hi ..
Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Then try again.
No data is lost due to reset.

Oct 16, 2014 3:46 AM in response to Sun225by eventually1,I have the same issue. I can install new apps, but when I touch "UPDATE" for any of the apps, it just takes me to the app and the "Update all" button is greyed out. I have an iPad 3rd generation, running iOS 7.0.6. Edited to add that I've also done a hard reset and it didn't help.
Am I being punished for not updating to iOS8?

Oct 16, 2014 6:48 AM in response to Carolyn Samitby HoneyCrisp11520,I have the same problem, I try to update my apps and it opens the app. This is SO annoying. I reset all settings, turned my iPhone 4S off and on again, and I still cannot update my 14 apps that need updating. I agree that this is a tool to convince me to get iOS 8, even though that will have just as many problems. I am so done with Apple.

Oct 16, 2014 9:06 PM in response to Sun225by The Cosmic Owl,I found a temporary workaround until they fix this problem. Instead of using the update tab, search for the app you want to update and click on it. Then use the update button on the info page and it works. Super annoying to have to do that for every app though so hopefully they fix it soon.

Oct 17, 2014 5:14 AM in response to BrexDJby HoneyCrisp11520,After you searched it, did you tap on it to go to the information page? It should say update there.
Also! You can just double tap on the app from the update page and it'll go to that page that has all the app's details, then the update option should be there!

Oct 18, 2014 2:22 PM in response to Sun225by _punkrockmikey,HI! I figured out why it's doing that! Mine had a glitch and all the apps got updated so, the list of updates you have that say update and open when you click them, it's really supposed to say open, I'm no really sure how it did that, but just wait until the next update comes then it should be fine:)

Oct 20, 2014 7:52 AM in response to Sun225by bal1985,As you can see when I go to my Updates page in the App Store, as an example you can see that Facebook shows an Update button. However, it's already updated and when I click update it simply opens FB.
If I open the App Store and search for Facebook, it shows the Open button next to it. This Updates page has a major bug.
And why does Chrome and Vevo still show up under the Updates page? Shouldnt they be under the Purchased section?
Im still on 7.0.6 but I highly doubt that is the issue as this wasn't happening up until a month or two ago. I thought nothing of it until so many people kept reporting the same bug/error. Has anyone found a fix for this?
