Q: My system won't allow iPhone synching to new user ID.  .

I have recently purchased some iTunes tunes.  Just before same I had a larger hard drive installed into my Powerbooki.  Now when trying to synch my iPhone to my Powerbook, the system wants me to enter my user password connected to an email address (i.e., "@mac.com) that I haven't used for years.  How/can I fix this?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

    I'm confused.

Are you asking about a PowerBook (made from 1991 to 2005) or the MacBook Pro in your profile? They are completely differnat animals and any recommendations about troubleshooting are also different. Unless you have an older iPhone, it's not going to synch with any PowerBook. That requires a newer Mac OS than any PowerBook can run due to hardware limitations.

Thanks Allan.  Sorry to confuse you about my computer.

I have a MacBook Pro, purchased by myself in early 2008; operating system 10.8.5

When I try to sync my iPhone 5 to my MacBook Pro I keep getting the message:

"This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone “Roy Johnson’s iPhone”.

Would you like to authorize this computer for      items purchased from the iTunes Store?"

When I click the "Authorize" button I get the drop down menu to enter my Apple ID password.

The problem is, the password demanded is to an old email address I only used one year after

buying the MacBook Pro in 2008.  My old address is listed as:

         "drroy21@mac.com"

Again, I no longer have or us that email address.  My current email address is a "gmail" address.

When I enter my old "@mac.com" password, presented is:

         "This computer is already authorized."

I click "OK".  Then am presented the following message:

"This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone “Roy Johnson’s iPhone”.

Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?"

I'm suck in an endless loop and don't know how to extricate myself from it.

    Any thoughts, suggestions?  Thanks.

Howdy Roy (and you too A J)

This seems to be not a computer problem but merely an AppleID problem, unsolvable by anyone except the fine folks at

Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security

BTW, ironic that Apple Inc. Corporate address is 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino CA ??

    Thanks, Chitlins !!!

I'll give Apple ID a shot.

Yes, indeed, "infinite loop" is applicable to my current situation.

To note, I re-read my longer posting and notice I misspelled, "Stuck", writinging, "I'm suck…" instead.  I guess I felt both "stuck" & that feeling stuck feeling "suck" (s).

Thanks for your support and humor.

strange days at Apple. Infinite Loop was clearly meant as humorous as an address likely picked personally by Steve Jobs (Woz never seemed to have a sense of humor outwardly, but who knows?) Sadly, the new administration seems to be taking it somewhat literally.

Also ironic is how your mere typo was censored by the filter and your intentional use survives unscathed?
