Sep 30, 2014 8:56 AM in response to gducby Alexeymor,Same on an iphone 5s after updating to iOS8 - when selecting more than a paragraph on a page, safari starts scrolling up. I used this feature a lot to read books, but now I cant.

Oct 15, 2014 11:49 AM in response to Alexeymorby MrCliffHuxtable,This was one of my favorite and most used features, because reading text on screen causes headaches after too long. Sadly, beginning in iOS7, selecting text so that it could be read aloud became more difficult. In iOS8, it is nearly impossible to select blocks of text to have them read aloud. If I try to select text on a webpage, there is almost no precision anymore, and most times, my attempts result in the page scrolling to the top or bottom on its own. What's even more frustrating is that the text that I intend to select doesn't actually get selected because it disappears. (The selection area is visible, but the text is invisible.).
Worse still, there is no way to stop it. reloading the page doesn't help as safari appears to stuck in the scrolling action. Any attempts to "help" Safari reach the end or beginning of the page result in a "problem occurred" error or continued scrolling and unresponsive was to touch.
I'm not a power user. I use my iPhone for a small number of tasks that would probably be boring to many. But I loved that I could have it read to me. Unfortunately, I can't really even do that anymore.
