Then you don't have to worry about the password thing (you really couldn't do anything about it right now anyway since your account is locked).

As for the other news: I think that is great news!!! At least they called you - that's really good news. That means that the letter did exactly what it was supposed to do! So, hopefully, they will be able to do something; we'll see. Let me know when you hear anything else, ok.

    Calm down a bit.

You turned 2 step on, so you must follow the instructions (you posted them already) exactly. Both passwords are required for your Mac or it will not connect

Do you know both passwords (a device password may need generating)

    Read the directions.

No, he doesn't have the passwords, the email key didn't work, neither did the instructions, the account is locked permanently, and I wrote a letter to an Apple VP in charge of online stores for him, which is what he is referring to in his last post.

What version of EtreCheck did you use? The developer has run across a few unexplained issues and has posted three updates in the last two days. As I'm posting this, v2.0.9 is the latest.

I have seen results such as this earlier this week and called his attention to it. At that time he was aware of it but had no firm explanation, so I can't say for certain that he's solved it with 2.0.9.

Based on MadMac's reply and a couple of other people's posts in a different forum, they all seem to think that it's the Etrecheck software not quite keeping up.

So, as long as your computer is running the way it should and you don't have any problems with it, they said not to worry about it. It's probably a good idea not to run that report for a while until it catches up with the latest OS version.

EtreCheck is fine. I am always releasing updates, but they are usually for things like improvements to the German translation.

EtreCheck is a tool to help people here on Apple Support Communities troubleshoot your system remotely. It is meant to display a snapshot of your entire system. Any particular entry in red may or may not have any meaning. You had two failed entries before and people told you to ignore them and you should have ignored them. OS X is a complicated system and there are always random failures.

You should always post an entire EtreCheck report. Never copy and paste parts of it. In most cases, lines that say "running" in green may be the most damaging to your system. In this last case, you have omitted part of the report that includes critical information. The "New Update" you mentioned must be that you updated to Yosemite. I have seen a number of cases where there are many failed Apple entries after a Yosemite update. Usually that means you need to download Yosemite again and re-apply the update. Do that, and you should be fine.

The EtreCheck report is useful when it comes with a description of whatever problem you are having. If you are happy with how your machine is running, then there is no reason to run the report and certainly no reason to worry about any red entries. If you are having a specific problem, then the report might help to show what is causing it.

This thread is very long and you have already performed a major update. So, if you are having any new problems, it would be best to start a new thread for the new problems. You can include a new EtreCheck report, but always start with a description of the actual problem you are experiencing.
