Q: Mac OS 10.10 Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Upper channel 149-165 issues

Hi Apple guru's,

I just updated to Mac OS 10.10, and immediately after the upgrade, I am now unable to connect to my 802.11ac gateway, which is broadcasting the SSID on channel 149.

Can anyone provide advise what can be done to rectify this?

Note I was perfectly connected to my gateway on this channel when I was running 10.9.4 on my Mac PRO (Late 2013)

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Hold down Option while you click the Wi-Fi Icon on the menubar. You get a display like this, plus a list of Networks you can see (i don't have any near mine).

Is your preferred network shown as an available network?

The issue is actually not about the visibility of my Access point, but rather the inability to connect to it, when it is on a preset Wi-Fi channel using the 802.11ac standard.

As you can see in the screenshot, I have 2x 802.11ac Access Points.  I am able to connect to the one that is set to channel 108.

But the one further down, which is on channel 149, I will not be able to connect to.

Reason, why I want to use the higher channel is for increased stability on the connection and then also throughput bandwidth to my NAS.

Well you guys can add my name to this list! I have a rMBP from 2012 but have a little bit of an exotic setup, I purchased the BCM94360CSX for it to achieve 802.11 AC connectivity and have been less than impressed. Currently all the upper channels are very unstable, meaning if I walk 10 feet away (but maintain line of sight) the throughput drops to 878 (mBits). I've also noticed that the latency and overall throughput is 1/10 of what it should be (seeing 10 m/bits down vs wired connection of 120 m/bits down). Im hoping that the 10.10.1 update will help stabilize the throughput, im guessing that the OS's wifi power management is being to aggressive and prematurely reducing power.

    Eric Landi-

The signal should not fall off that rapidly. You should have your MacBook Pro checked for a disconnected antenna wire (typically under the screen bezel).

Can't connect to channels 149 and above.

I expected Yosemite fixes, all of them already rolled, and 5GHz wifi is still dead.

My AirPort Extreme AC has no lower channels (I suppose cos of territory regulations).

    Any ideas to fix?

Apple what are you doing? I purchased expensive MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch and not so cheap rooter AirPort Extreme AC to use old school and slow 2.4 GHz wifi.
