Q: bluetooth connection fails iOS 8.0.2 OS X yosemite

Hi, I'm facing connection problems trying to create a bluetooth connection between my iphone (iOS 8.0.2) and MacBook Pro with the new OS X Yosemite.

I'm not able to pair the two devices

Under About this MAC, click "System Report" under the Hardware tab select Bluetooth. Find the "LMP Version" if its under 0x6 you do not have a Bluetooth (BT) 4.0 adapter and for now it looks like these devices are incompatible with the handoff/continuity feature. Although my Air which does have a BT 4.0 adapter (and worked in the beta) does not work in the final Yosemite release - it keeps dropping the BT pair.

Fingers crossed, this features gets updated to WIFI and recognize when the devices are on the same network.

I have the LMP V 0x6 and am still having the problem.  Won't pair consistently and when it does it fails again.  While paired Handoff to iPhone6 will not work.

Yup. Same problem. iPhone 5 and Early 2013 rMBP. So more than qualified for the job. This is happening to a lot a folks with recent devices.

    I have the same issue,

My 5s now shows my iMac twice and can't forget one of them. The 2 devices momentarily pair and the connection drops.

I'm only getting handoff in safari and not pages and numbers or notes and from what I've read it needs the bluetooth to work...... not sure why it doesn't all use iCloud

Same here.  Can't pair with either my iPhone 5S or IPad Air.   I have the LMP version mentioned in this thread.   Really annoying when there's a feature that looks like something you've been waiting for doesn't work.

Exact same issue. Installed Yosemite yesterday on Late 2012, 27" iMac and cannot pair it with my brand new iPhone 6 running iOS 8.02. I had previously not tried pairing my iMac and iPhone as there was really no point. But now this ability is a major new feature of the Apple ecosystem, supposedly. Bluetooth works on my iMac and it sees both my Trackpad and my iPhone. Bluetooth on my iPhone sees my iMac but on both devices the other is in a state of "Not Connected". Attempts to pair the devices fail, though both see the PIN code that is generated for pairing. Connectivity seems to last for an instant and then evaporates.

My iMac has Apple Bluetooth Software Version 4.3.0f10, 14890, Firmware Version v99 c8865, and LMP Version 0x6, Subversion 0x4163.

    Seriously Apple, fix this.

I even have the 'Make sure your device is in range etc...', with my MBP and iPhone about 1 inch apart on a table?!?! Genius!!!
