Oct 18, 2014 12:50 PM in response to tomstephens89by MiguelD,★HelpfulHaving problems with wifi after installing Yosemite?
Yes and it is driving me crazy. I've tried all the reported fixes and nothing sticks. Not changing the location, keychain access, Kext, etc. It may seem like it is changing for a few minutes but it always comes back. And it is across all wifi connections.

Oct 18, 2014 12:44 PM in response to tomstephens89by DragonFly3,★HelpfulI've been suffering from this same ailment since I upgraded on Thursday. After much gnashing of teeth (PRAM, SMC, reinstall of Yosemite, etc. etc.) I finally **RESOLVED** it by creating a new Network Location.
*under Network Preferences
*Click drop-down for Location
*Create a new location.. (I called mine "Internet")
*that's it!
hope it helps you too

Oct 18, 2014 1:12 PM in response to tomstephens89by nicknish,Here are the most prevalent solutions available:
- Creating a New Wi-Fi Service (this solution worked for me!)
- Copy and paste these instructions, because you'll be disconnected from the Internet and you'll need to reboot.
- Go into your Network Preferences > Select Wi-Fi Service (in the list in the left column) > Click on the options (cog icon) > Select "Make Service Inactive" > Select Apply.
- Select the same Wi-Fi Service > Delete It ( – ). Reboot.
- Return to Network Preferences > Create a New Service ( + ).
- Inside the prompt select Wi-Fi under Interface, name the Service Name something other than Wi-Fi. (I named mine Wi-Fi2. Apparently if you retain the previous Wi-Fi name the WiFi dropping will return on reboot.) > Click Create.
- Click Apply.
- Delete and Reconnect to your Preferred Network
- Go into your Network Preferences > Advanced > Select Your WiFi Network and Delete It ( – ). Reconnect to it.
- Delete Bluetooth.plist
- Finder > Go (on your toolbar) > Computer > HD > Library > Preferences > Delete your Bluetooth.plist. Reboot.
- Delete SystemConfiguration
- Finder > Go (on your toolbar) > Computer > HD > Library > Preferences > Delete your SystemConfiguration. Reboot.
- Reset PRAM
- Reset your PRAM (Haven't tried it myself so I don't feel right instructing others how to do it, sorry!).
Sorry if this isn't as comprehensive or clear as you may need. If you need more clarification, I'll keep this thread open and check periodically.
Good luck!

Oct 18, 2014 1:18 PM in response to nicknishby MiguelD,I've tried all the solutions Nickish mentioned, multiple times because they are so often mentioned.
Some of them seem to work for a short period of time and then the problem returns. Also - these are the same fixes that were often mentioned for Mavericks. I had a wifi problem with Mavericks and the change network location worked. On Yosemite no such luck.

Oct 18, 2014 1:48 PM in response to tomstephens89by adioseven,Same issue. Tried everything, delete SystemConfiguration, remove/add Network Locations, change kext, disable WPA/WPA2 security, change router, change 5Hz to 2.4Hz, all this things. Usually it works for 5-10 minutes and then goes down to 0,5 mbps again. ALL betas works fine but final release.
Clean install. No changes.
One month ago I fu***ed my brain with 'awesome new' iOS 8.0.1 update, and now, I'm f***ing with NO internet and have NO work with 'most advanced operating system' that just doesn't work on the top level Macbook Pro 15'
Apple, what's wrong with you?
I'm just tired. I need to finish my work and I can't.
'Buggy than buggy'.

Oct 18, 2014 1:55 PM in response to tomstephens89by CesarTapiaLive,I resolved the WiFi problem by creating a new WiFi Service but I can't use apple applications, they don't connect to the internet, Google Chrome Does, but not safari, iTunes, FaceTime, etc.
Also can't connect to iCloud...
Very frustrated I wish I didn't udpate to Yosemite...

Oct 18, 2014 1:56 PM in response to adiosevenby scoflo72,Also tried all the suggested fixes and still getting kicked off after 5-10 seconds. Another botched launch and the silence from Apple is ridiculous.

Oct 18, 2014 2:16 PM in response to nicknishby haasin,hi, i did a clean install of yosemite on my macbook pro retina 13inch early 2013, my 2.4ghz wifi is working perfect but when i connect to 5ghz wifi, everything gets extremely slow, i can hardly open any website, it is totally frustrating because i was using 5ghz wifi perfectly on mavericks. 2.4ghz is so crowded here, i have tried all the solutions. i hope apple brings a update soon to fix the issue. my router is ASUS AC-RT87U with upgraded firmware. seems like a compatibility issue.

Oct 18, 2014 3:01 PM in response to giumangiuby Andrew-ACT-ACSA,Launch Terminal (you can get to it via the Spotlight icon at the top right. Copy and paste these lines below.
Enter:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.discoveryd.plist
(and hit return and enter your account password)
Now enter:
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.discoveryd.plist
(and hit return)
Now check Safari.
My brother just had this problem on a Mac that has been upgraded and upgraded time and time again. None of the other fix suggestions worked.
I saw this problem on my older Mac with the Yosemite betas. discoverd is the new name resolver process and it seems it's still buggy.
Apparently you will be stuck running this command every reboot/switch-on or every time discoveryd craps out.
