Q: bluetooth connection fails iOS 8.0.2 OS X yosemite

Hi, I'm facing connection problems trying to create a bluetooth connection between my iphone (iOS 8.0.2) and MacBook Pro with the new OS X Yosemite.

I'm not able to pair the two devices

Same issue here, with an iPhone 5 on the latest iOS 8 build, and 2013 MacBook Air 13" on yesterday's Yosemite release build; when I try to pair both together, my iPhone says "Connection Unsuccessful - 'Robert's MacBook Air is not supported."

No idea what's wrong with it, as restarting them doesn't seem to fix anything.  They're not even pairing, which is odd.  Hopefully we see some sort of bug fix soon.

    Same here....

Can't pair my MBP, IMAC (Yosemite), iPAD mini, iPhone, or iTouch Pro (iOS 8.0.2).  Same network, same Bluetooth version.

LMP Version 0x6 means the computer has Bluetooth adapter 4.0. ("If your Mac is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0, LMP Version will say 0x6. Anything lower than that is an older version of Bluetooth.")

    Details here: http://www.imore.com/how-tell-if-your-mac-has-bluetooth-40

But somehow, the connection between the devices (MacBook and iPhone) is not stable: it keeps getting the error messages ("This Device Does Not Have The Necessary Services", "Not connected", etc) reported by you all.

I just updated to Yosemite today and I have iOS 8.0.2. I hope with Apple fix this issue with the iOS 8.1 that will be released next Monday (10/20) and, if needed, an update for OS X as well. Until there, the handoff won't work well.

Thanks for the release date for iOS 8.1.  Fingers crossed.

I don't think its an IOS8 issue rather a Yosemite issue - Handoff for me worked great in the Beta, now nothing. Tomorrow I will play with a beta in a virtual machine and see if I can get the Handoff feature to once again work.

Also, the ability to receive SMS on the iMessage isn't operational yet either.    Apparently they are addressing this with iOS 8.1 which is to be released on the 20th.   Seriously, Apple would be better off not promoting things that aren't ready for the release and then come in later and say "Look! We've enhanced it!!!"   Then they look like Santa instead of boobs.

I have similar problems. Iphone 6, IOS 8.0.2 will not pair with MBAir, Yosemite for more than a couple of seconds. It didn’t work on Maverick either.  It connects, but immediately disconnects. Distance 20 cm or so.  Iphone connects without problems with my car system, and Mac connects without problems with Apple keyboard and mouse. The Mac appears twice in the device list on the iPhone, but only one can be deleted.

The rumor (e.g., MacRumors) is that this Bluetooth pairing bug will be fixed in iOS 8.1 due to be released tomorrow, Monday October 20. Let's hope. If so I will be pleased, but also ****** that I spent hours with Apple support yesterday failing to fix the problem, which they ought to have known about.

In my case, the problem is with yosemite os x since my devices used to work fine with maverick os x
