Oct 18, 2014 1:52 PM in response to mattormondby jackallantern,I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. Wi-Fi keeps dropping and I have to run network diagnostics to (temporarily) get my connection back. Extremely frustrating to say the least.

Oct 18, 2014 2:37 PM in response to arya.iby tommi0,I have the same issue with my MBA (2012), internet access drops after a while, WIFI signal is strong, but my MBA cannot connect to internet anymore.
To reconnect it helps to renew DHCP lease: Prefs -> Network -> WiFi -> Advanced -> TCP/IP -> Renew DHCP
and connection is back.
To stay connected the ping trick works for me, in Terminal:
ping -i 0.2 <router-ip>
e.g
ping -i 0.2 192.168.0.1

Oct 18, 2014 6:27 PM in response to Rob Mby Rob M,Another update ---
I found this suggestion on another thread, and it seemed to have helped. I haven't had a drop in hours and can move between access points freely:
]---
1. Open Network Preferences, click once on the WiFi adapter in the list there on the left. Then click the little cog icon at the bottom and select "Make Service Inactive". Click APPLY.
2. Then click on the WiFi in the same list there again, and then click the - button to delete it. Click APPLY.
3. Reboot the Mac.
4. Once rebooted, go back into the Network Prefs, and under the network adapter list click the + button, and then in the dropdown list (which is probably showing Bluetooth by default) select WiFi. For the name field, change it from WiFi to WiFi2. It's important you add something to the name here (I've just suggested to add a number 2), or else it will break again on next reboot. Click APPLY.

Oct 19, 2014 2:41 AM in response to Rob Mby Theo1958,I still run Mavericks with the same issue. Tried everything that I could find on the internet. I guess the problem is in the b/g/n of the wifi. I switched my router to b/g only and I have no problems anymore. Lousy workaround of course, but i have continuous internet now.....
Hope to read your experiences with Yosemite here, so I can decide to upgrade or not.

Oct 19, 2014 12:41 PM in response to mattormondby pfer,I have the same problem with a late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro. This bug apparently has nothing to do with the specific Macbook or Mac model, it's just Yosemite.
My wifi connection drops every couple of minutes, but strangely without the wifi icon in the menu bar even showing any disconnection. When I turn wifi off and on again, it works again - for another couple of minutes.
It also has nothing to do with bluetooth in my case. Whether bluetooth is off or on, it keeps happening in both cases.
Apple, please fix this.

Oct 19, 2014 12:46 PM in response to pferby pfer,Actually, since the wifi icon in the menu bar does not show any disconnection (= icon turns grey instead of black) at any time in my case, what happens might actually not be a wifi disconnection:
I think it's not the wifi connection that drops, it's just the internet connection. My macbook seems to remain connected to the wifi at all times, I just keep losing the internet connection.

Oct 19, 2014 2:05 PM in response to pferby kezgez,my bluetooth keeps dropping signal as well my mouse works for a few mins then starts dropping every few seconds is any one else having this or is it just me and my husband? our iPads and phones are fine with wifi and bluetooth

Oct 19, 2014 2:48 PM in response to Eisi and Paco macernby dbecher,I had issues with bluetooth and wifi as well. The second I turned bluetooth off, the wifi signal would get better, but if I turn it on again, I can't access the internet.
I have found a solution regarding the interference between bluetooth and wifi. Copy following command into the terminal, hit enter and type in your password:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.airport.bt.plist bluetoothCoexMgmt Hybrid
After then, reboot. It worked like a charm for me! Can't tell you the specifics but it switches on blueotooth coexisting mode so it doesn't interfere any longer with wifi.
Let me know if it helped anybody.

Oct 19, 2014 3:00 PM in response to dbecherby kezgez,This is only since Yosemite though I have a support call booked for 12.45 tomorrow so don't really want to mess anything up lol and I'm not very good at doing things like that, just wanted to make sure it wasn't me, and other people have same issues after update

Oct 19, 2014 3:18 PM in response to mattormondby apple id same as primary email,I had the same issue almost immediately after upgrading. After reading through all of the posts, one of the posted solutions did work for me which was quite simple. Simply go into your Networks area in Settings, delete your wifi networks and re-add it. I can also concur that I have a dual band wireless router which also seems to be common in the people that are having issues. Since deleting and re-adding today, it has been fine.

Oct 20, 2014 5:58 AM in response to mattormondby G369,I tried everything and this worked for me!
Thanks to whoever found this fix.
- Copy and paste these instructions, because you'll be disconnected from the Internet and you'll need to reboot.
- Go into your Network Preferences > Select Wi-Fi Service (in the list in the left column) > Click on the options (cog icon) > Select "Make Service Inactive" > Select Apply.
- Select the same Wi-Fi Service > Delete It ( – ). Reboot.
- Return to Network Preferences > Create a New Service ( + ).
- Inside the prompt select Wi-Fi under Interface, name the Service Name something other than Wi-Fi. (I named mine Wi-Fi2. Apparently if you retain the previous Wi-Fi name the WiFi dropping will return on reboot.) > Click Create.
- Click Apply.

Oct 20, 2014 7:44 AM in response to cypherpunktooby MarjD,I'm having same problems as others after updating to Yosemite yesterday. WIFI keeps dropping when I close the lid and resume. Can't even find the router listed unless I go to saved connections, and even when clicking on it, it won't connect. Only after letting it search for 5 minutes or so -- then it connects automatically and stays connected until I close the lid again. Running an early-2013 MBP 13-inch Retina.
Found the following system info through Finder: Applications: Utilities: System Info: Network: WIFI: Interfaces.
Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x10F)
Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (7.15.124.12.8)
Hope this helps. BTW I'm working temporarily from an apartment in Paris, not my usual US-based Time Capsule. However, connection was good here with Mavericks, until upgrading to Yosemite.
