Oct 19, 2014 11:31 PM in response to zinnjdby Mark DS,Having the same issue on my MacBook Pro. Have tried:
- Unplugging / replugging in power adapter
- Different power adapters
- Restarting the MacBook
- Running "sudo fdesetup status"
All do not resolve the issue.
Apple when will this be fixed!

Oct 19, 2014 11:36 PM in response to zinnjdby shahan_k,I had the same issue and spent all of yesterday trying to fix it. Unfortunately, my computer was too slow to do anything at all except when on recovery mode. You can start the process of decrypting your files even if the encryption is not fully completed using disk utility in recovery mode by following the steps on this website:
Hope this helps!

Oct 20, 2014 12:20 AM in response to zinnjdby himindz,Here is my solution
http://himindz.com/blog/?p=116
1. First in order to bring the machine in some usable condition, unplug the power adapter, so that filevault pauses whatever it is doing.
2. Now open the terminal (if you can otherwise try hard rebooting the machine)
3. Then enter following command
diskutil cs revert /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD -passphrase
do not forget to replace /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD if needed.
4. Finally reboot machine, plug the power adapter back and go to FileVault property page in System Preferences. You should see that FileVault now starts encrypting the disk again and now hopefully it is running as expected that is showing the progress bar moving.
Remember a 3/4TB SSD/hybrid hard disk may take more than 6 hours to encrypt or decrypt. So be patient and better leave it working overnight.

Oct 20, 2014 1:31 AM in response to Jluvmacby whooosh12,yeh what a nightmare.
My backup has finally restored and *touch wood* everything seems to be fine. I use my MBP for work so thank god I did that on a Saturday and not a Sunday.

Oct 20, 2014 2:10 AM in response to himindzby Mark DS,Thats all well and fine but it appears if my drive is not "revertable"
Running "diskutil cs list" shows
+-> Logical Volume E3C1FEAD-8C53-4340-BE00-86BFF00F0296 --------------------------------------------------- Disk: disk1 Status: Online Size (Total): 999324516352 B (999.3 GB) Conversion Progress: Paused Revertible: No LV Name: Macintosh HD Volume Name: Macintosh HD Content Hint: Apple_HFS When I run "diskutil cs revert /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD -passphrase" I get:
Started CoreStorage operation on disk1 Macintosh HD
Error: -69666: This Core Storage operation is not allowed on a sparse logical volume group

Oct 20, 2014 3:01 AM in response to oreo09by Shaylee Greene,Did this work for you? i'm having the same problem as you where it is stuck at "estimated time remaining" i dont know what to do

Oct 20, 2014 3:43 AM in response to hikeno19by eltonjpt,This worked for me! Typed in command "
sudofdesetup disable" and my status went from around 1/6 of the bar, to nearly finished. Just 40 minutes more until this horrific thing is over!Like all of you reported, my MacBook started to become unusable when I turned on FileVault when upgrading to Yosemite. I was so upset! Three days gone with barely being able to use my computer! Thanks!

Oct 20, 2014 4:20 AM in response to eltonjptby loicsans, eltonjpt, It doesn't seem you have the same issue as most of us. We're talking about a problem stating "Encryption paused" reason being "Connect power adapter to resume encryption." even if the computer is fully charged and the adapter is plugged in.

Oct 20, 2014 4:22 AM in response to loicsansby eltonjpt,Sorry, I guess it isn't exactly the same problem. I was just happy that the suggestion above fixed my problem!

Oct 20, 2014 4:24 AM in response to eltonjptby loicsans,No problem, I wish apple would start acknowledging there is an overall problem with filevault in Yosemite

Oct 20, 2014 6:16 AM in response to loicsansby brian.d,Same issues with no resolutions. Was on the phone with Apple multiple times and they are looking into it. Unfortunately waiting does not work for me and I ended up backing up the drive, reformatted it and re-installed Yosemite (without filevault) since I didn't see the sudo command tips.
FYI, the process will pause under 2 conditions. 1) running on battery and 2) when booted into safe mode. The safe mode boot halts the encryption process and allows you to backup and copy files,
Best to all, no filevault for me.

Oct 20, 2014 7:16 AM in response to Shaylee Greeneby oreo09,Just an update. After decrypting, my MBP is back to normal.

Oct 20, 2014 2:57 PM in response to zinnjdby Dejan90,My FileVault is stuck on the Yosemite update now for 3 days already.. It's just saying "connect power adapter to resume encryption".
I tried everything that was written above in the past 2 pages of posts and nothing...

Oct 20, 2014 4:19 PM in response to Shaylee Greeneby Assignment,I'm in the same situation. But when it gives an estimate of time to encryption completion, it's 341 days. Meanwhile my Macbook Air is running hotter than it ever has and the fans never shuts off. This all seemed surprising to Apple when I talked to technical support today. Neither did he have any answers. Now I can't shut off File Vault. On the other hand, the MBA seems to be operating fairly normally, if hot. Argh. 341 days to encrypt?
