Oct 21, 2014 4:17 AM in response to Thet Aungby Wanderer75,I finally solved the problem.
1. Delete your printer in Printers and scanners preferences.
2. Restart computer.
3. Download and install the following driver (version 3.67 has just been released for Yosemite): http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100420705.html
4. Restart computer.
5. Download and install the patch appearing at step 3 on this page: http://macdaily.me/howto/how-to-install-canon-lbp2900-on-mac-os-x-mavericks/
6. Restart computer.
7. Connect the printer with USB, add the driver in Printers and scanners preferences, select the appropriate driver.
8. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Nov 19, 2014 6:32 AM in response to Wanderer75by guptasud,Hi Wanderer75,
Thanks for providing the detailed guideline.
I've been able to follow till step 6 perfectly, but am then stuck on 7.
While adding the printer again, do I pick Select Software or Other?
I've already tried Select Software>Canon LBP2900 CAPT (UK)>Add, but this adds some old driver version 3.36.
How do I locate the latest driver that I just installed?
Help would be really appreciated.

Nov 19, 2014 8:39 AM in response to guptasudby Wanderer75,Hi Guptasud,
I'm sorry I can't really help further. The LBP2900 driver should appear in the drop down box as it seems it does, through "select software".
I don't understand why the later driver isn't added, but I don't think you'll be able to find and add it through "other".
Good luck!

Dec 7, 2014 11:40 PM in response to guptasudby anotherurmi,Hi Guptasud,
Yes, the patch installs an old 3.36 driver but that makes the printer work on Yosemite 10.10.1.
I added a step after Step 1.
Before restarting, I went to Library/Printers and deleted all the folders in there. Then I followed the next steps after a restart.
You can see if this works for you, but please keep in mind it will probably remove all other working printers you might have installed on your system.

Apr 25, 2015 1:53 AM in response to Wanderer75by suku14,Hi, I have OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and the driver software from the link you posted doesn't seem to support LBP-2900. It supports 3000 but not 2900. Can you please Suggest a Solution?
