Q: I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8.  Rec'd message that I need to upgrade.  Please let me know how and why.  thank you

I have a Mac os x, version 10.5.8, processor 2.13 GHz, Intel core 2 duo. memory 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.  I rec'd a message that Safari no longer supports my system.  Please exolain and show me how to upgrade.  Thank you.

    Click here, install the DVD, run Software Update, and if desired, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.


    Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.
