Q: You need a newer version of Pages to open this document.
Can't seem to see why this message keeps coming up, I have version 5.1 runing OS 10.9.1
I can force it to open with Control key and "open with", and even tell it to always use 5.1, but it keeps saying this, any idears?
iMac (24-inch Early 2009), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), 80's MacPlus, everything inbetween til this...

Check which version is attempting to open the document when you get that message. I suspect it's Pages '09 (v4.3), which is not removed by the installation of Pages 5.
Choosing "Always open with..." in the contextual menu may apply only to that specific document. To associate ALL .pages documents with Pages 5,do this:
- Locate a .pages document in Finder.
- Select (single click) the file.
- Press command-I to Get Info.
- In the Info window, expand the Open with... section.
- Use the pop-up menu to select Pages 5.
- Click the Change All button to set all documents with the .pages extension to open with Pages 5.
Consider carefully whether the annoyance is a compelling reason to remove Pages '09 though. If you are creating documents to be printed, there are several features in the earlier version that are not (yet) supported in the new one.

Barry
