Oct 21, 2014 11:51 AM in response to Taildragger-J3by Taildragger-J3,Well it seems I have stirred up a hornet's nest with my original post. Too bad Apple doesn't give a _____ about how they treat their customers. I plan to just keep my and my wife's pads and phones on IOS 7 as long as I can then when Apple finds ways to make them stop working on that OS, we'll go to another system. It's a shame, but I guess they're just too big to care about the thousands (millions?) of customers they are alienating. I can't afford to do that in my work.

Oct 21, 2014 12:14 PM in response to Taildragger-J3by Jolieteddie,Wait a minute. You're blaming Apple because you want to use a cheaper cable/adapter and expect Apple to make sure that it works? It's up to the manufacturers of those cheapies to conform to Apple's requirements, not Apple. From what I'm reading, Apple's adapter/cable works just fine with 8.1. That's all Apple needs to do. You love Apple, but apparently not enough to buy their products. I've purchased some third party cables and chargers, etc., too, but if they quit working because of an upgrade or change by Apple, I certainly can't blame Apple. I've also found that all my Apple cables, etc. continue to work and work and work and work.....

Oct 21, 2014 12:29 PM in response to Jolieteddieby NoveltyRockEmporium,I think the point is that everything worked ok until Apple brought out the new OS and what people are upset about is that they think it's deliberate. Anyway all I want to know is a definate fix, so that apart are you saying that you can mirror your iPad on the TV using the new OS and an original Apple cable? Would appreciate it if you could let me know. To be fair there seems to be some confusion. Thank you.

Oct 21, 2014 12:32 PM in response to Bazzsniperby Jolieteddie,There are low grade HDMI cables all sorts of accessories, too. You get what you pay for. I still say it's not Apple's job to keep other manufacturers' products functioning, especially cheap versions that offer no protection on their end.

Oct 21, 2014 12:38 PM in response to NoveltyRockEmporiumby Kittykat"",YEs,i do blame apple and hate, hate hate the new ios! Hdmi cable worked perfectly before the update! And on top of that i have other problems with both my ipad 4 and ipad 2. they work like two slugs( the slower and a little fatser slug) ..have problems with skype, some other apps and battery life on ipad 2. And i was so happy with both of them before the update, which i think its not fair,at list we should've been warned that new update MAY not work as well with older models

Oct 21, 2014 12:59 PM in response to Kittykat""by Frustrated malaga,The arrogant attitude of Apple is the problem. I didn't buy the cheapest cable and it was working perfectly well before the upgrade. i doubt that the Apple cable/adapter warrants 4 times the price of a quality product from another company.
Was this a deliberate ploy on the part of Apple to exploit their existing customers and force them into buying an vastly overpriced product???????
What ever happened to "customer care" and service? I think we're all going to have to bite the bullet and pay the price of being an Apple customer because they're obviously not going to do anything to provide customer satisfaction!!!!!!!!!!!

Oct 22, 2014 2:19 AM in response to Taildragger-J3by chrisfrommona vale,I worked out the problem. It used to output at 1080p 30fps. It now outputs at 1080p 29.97 fps.
Not sure why, but I know when I changed to the 29.97 setting in Premiere Pro, it worked.

Oct 22, 2014 3:06 AM in response to chrisfrommona valeby Jodee1982,Chrisfrommona vale, is this a setting I can change on my iPad?
-
Oct 22, 2014 3:27 AM in response to Jodee1982by chrisfrommona vale,No I don't think so. I changed the setting on my computer end. I doubt you can do that without going through an intermediary (in my case a Blackmagic capture card)

Oct 23, 2014 12:11 AM in response to Jolieteddieby Nodge22,Jolieteddie, you do have a point, Apple can't be expected to maintain compatibility with every piece of 3rd party hardware out there. However, on the face of it this does appear like a deliberate attempt to lock people into proprietary, overpriced Apple products.
I believe this is a short-sighted and counter productive move, as people will vote with their feet - Apple should be opening up their platforms to encourage wider adoption, not trying to squeeze every last drop from its customers.
What next - a Mac OS update that only supports Apple external disk drives?? - it's a slippery slope my friend.

Oct 23, 2014 5:46 AM in response to Jolieteddieby wanjka,Hi there.
I cannot agree. I have a genuine Apple HDMI adapter for my iPad 3. And it stopped working after upgrade to iOS 8.1. I can hear sound, but see black screen, like many users here... So, it seem to be definitely an Apple issue with the iOS 8 software.
Cheers,
Ivan

Oct 24, 2014 12:28 PM in response to Taildragger-J3by Frustrated malaga,Today I made a 100 miles round trip to buy an adapter from the Apple Store. It was very temperamental to start with but now seems to be working.
it's 30 pin Digital AV Adapter- MD098ZM/A. But also had to buy a HDMI to HDMI cable. Available from Amazon........much cheaper.
Good Luck!!!
