Oct 22, 2014 9:50 AM in response to mattlcoby desenoch,The ping trick hasn't worked in fact nothing has, I've had a suggestion to go back into time machine and use a pre Yosemite back up, but not sure if this will uninstall Yosemite, anyone got any ideas!!??

Oct 22, 2014 9:56 AM in response to desenochby ecotecit,You should be able to use Time Machine to restore to a point which had Mavericks.
I've done this before.
Just boot into the recovery console, and choose the restore from Time Machine option there.
Come on Apple, pull your socks up and give what you've promised. super speedy wireless a/c, with no disconnects.

Oct 22, 2014 9:56 AM in response to mattormondby FourRookes,I have the same problem! In spite a strong WiFi signal my connection now drops out every couple of minutes! The connection was completely stable prior to installing Yosemite. [2013 iMac 27", 24GB Ram]

Oct 22, 2014 2:44 PM in response to mattormondby dannymd,I have NEVER posted on this forum before, but it looks like there are a lot of newbies since this Yosemite upgrade.
I have 2 mac devices: 2012 Mac Mini and a 2013 Macbook Air.
They both worked beautifully and had NO ISSUES with Wi-fi under Mavericks.
A few days ago I upgraded to Yosemite on both of these devices, and now they BOTH have issues.
1) My Mac Mini keeps dropping the wi-fi connection every 1-3 minutes. I have bluetooth enabled, because I use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Can't turn it off, which I've heard MIGHT help some people.
2) My Macbook Air has had PAINFULLY SLOW wifi connection since I upgraded. I'm now using my LTE-enabled iPad for network needs as a work-around, but this ISN'T A GOOD WORKAROUND.
***! How was this not picked up in beta.
APPLE -- PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP. THIS IS NOT OK.. And ACKNOWLEDGE the problem.
AND YES, I have tried rebooting, disconnecting and reconnecting from wifi, deleting system config folder, reinstalling OS, flushing PRAM on both devices. Didn't help.

Oct 22, 2014 4:34 PM in response to dannymdby Moosetraveller,I've no solution found but if you are using a VPN provider you might work around the problem. I've found out that HTTPS and FTP request went through but HTTP pages were not accessible, so I decided to make a VPN connection and it works well. However, this is not a solution! Apple must fix this ASAP!

Oct 22, 2014 10:56 PM in response to mattormondby Saavedl,Dear all,
after trying everything suggested in this forum and some other tricks that the apple support guys told me on the phone I did not manage to solve anything at all. Yesterday I selected the option of re-install the OS X from the recovery menu. This option requires of internet connection of course but for some reason I could get stable signal overnight. As a result, this morning everything seems to work normally. I have performed several speed test and the results look normal. I can load web pages as usual and the download of apps upgrades from the apple store seems to work fine.
This solution does not answer the question of why this is happening. The apple guys at Spain do not know anything. Apparently I was the first case to report this behavior here in Spain. I have a Mac mini (late 2012) BTW. Hope this helps to others

Oct 23, 2014 7:08 AM in response to kezgezby samstutz,Was on a chat window (on a different computer) for over an hour yesterday with Apple care with no joy and the same issues this morning. I'm trying the ping trick now and so far so good. Apple sent me a survey and I told them this upgrade and support experience was unacceptable and that their support staff is not acknowledging that there are any issues with the Yosemite upgrade. The support person told me he thought it was happening because of citrix (I use Gotomeeting) not yet making updates for Yosemite. Hmmm....gotomeeting's support site indicates that they support Yosemite.
Try again Apple. How about acknowledging that there is a problem and then fixing it.

Oct 23, 2014 7:35 AM in response to Wazza_by atsabma,I'd strongly suggest you give back the Macbook. I share your views and I'm just as disappointed with Yosemite – it has broken things that used to work before and none of the new features work for me (although I'm on new + compatible devices). I think Apple need to learn a lesson. Bigger isn't better.

Oct 23, 2014 8:18 AM in response to mattormondby Essenza,Hey all,
For what it's worth, I went this route: Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
After dropping every 5-15 minutes it's held strong for an hour and a half. I will edit this post if it returns.

Oct 23, 2014 9:29 AM in response to Essenzaby Stan in London,to keep building a critical mass so Apple will acknowledge and fix. My wifi on macbook air keeps dropping - no pattern but at its worst I lose mail every four minutes. Then it is stable for a bit.... This connects to my workplace system - there have been no changes to that and it office IT confirms the local wifi access points are working as before. I used my Air for many months with Mavericks and had fast, very fast speeds. Speed has been crippled. In a good place and a good day on Mavericks I could get almost 100 Mb download speed! Now in my office 6, 11and erratic. Apple please acknowledge and fix.
