Oct 21, 2014 3:07 AM in response to sgmerleyby sgmerley,Signed out and in of ICloud on all devices, rebooted and everything working again. I noticed this time that Instant Hotspot is tied to the same issues because now I can see it in the WiFI list.
What a mess.

Oct 21, 2014 4:40 AM in response to sgmerleyby sgmerley,It makes sense that this is server-related. Clearly Apple designed Handoff to work with BT so that it would only function when the devices were in proximity, an obvious security decision. Yet, to prevent anybody with an IOS device from getting a Handoff from other's devices, they also designed the system so that they would have to be signed on to the same ICloud account so I assume there is some kind of authentication going on against the server.
As I have reported, it is and has been working for me without WiFi and without AirDrop so I am going to assume at this point that all these problems are indeed server-related but I am open to correction by more knowledgable users.
BTW, a good diagnostic might be to see if your IPhone (everybody has one right?) is showing up in the list of available WiFI networks.....if not, I don't think Handoff is going to work.

Oct 21, 2014 11:10 AM in response to orchetectby tcool99,Was working only one way for me. iMac to iPhone...then switched AIRDROP to EVERYONE and it works perfectly now in both directions. iMac on ethernet, iPhone on wifi. same network.

Oct 21, 2014 11:38 AM in response to cyrusdubashby Joe M,I have an iMac, a MacBook Pro, a MacBook, 2 iPhones, and 3 iPads. Handoff is working the way it should on all devices and in both directions. I had trouble at first with the iMac but after signing out of the Apple account and then back in, it worked fine. If you are experiencing problems try signing out of your account and then back in on all devices.

Oct 21, 2014 6:27 PM in response to cyrusdubashby asfnm,I own 2 Macs and I'm having the same issue on one of them. Apps from iPhone shows up on Mac dock but not the other way round. This is only happening on my Personal Mac. My Work Mac works fine
Tried all of these steps to resolve:
- Restarting both devices
- Turning off/on Handoff on both devices
- Turning off/on bluetooth
- Turning off/on wifi
- Turning off/on iCloud
- Exchanging files via Air Drop
- Pairing iPhone via bluetooth (You don't need to but tried anyways)
- Finally wiping my entire Mac and doing a fresh install of Yosemite.
Nothing worked!
I did notice something funny on the Text Forwarding on my iPhone. I see duplicate entries for my Personal Mac. The one whose Handoff doesn't work have 3 entries. Do you guys see something similar?

Oct 22, 2014 9:23 AM in response to sgmerleyby ThreeCrows33,Jumping on the bandwagon here to report the same one-direction handoff issue. Worked flawlessly in the beginning. Unfortunately, as of this morning, my MBP only sends to my iPhone, but not vise versa. Will try signing out and signing back in to see if that works. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and feedback!

Oct 22, 2014 11:11 AM in response to asfnmby mxfilerelatedcache,Exactly the same for me! No Icons appearing on iPhone lock screen, and I have several entries on my message-forwarding menu.

Oct 22, 2014 3:18 PM in response to ThreeCrows33by ThreeCrows33,Well.. this is awkward.. Somehow "private mode" had been activated on my iPhone, hence the handoff only working in one direction. Sooooo, in the off chance anyone else out there has accidentally or intentionally turned on private mode in Safari, be sure to turn it off to handoff to your Mac. It works like a dream once that puppy has been deactivated.

Oct 24, 2014 3:31 AM in response to cyrusdubashby James McKinstry,I have the oppostie problem. i can go from my laptop to my phone, but not both anymore. i logged out of iCloud, turned off handoff, rebooted phone and laptop, rebooted and signed in, turned handoff back on and still one way.
i am not in private mode, i have air drop to everyone, even dropped files to the mac, but cannot get handoff to go from my phone to my mac anymore.
would love to see a fix

Oct 24, 2014 5:40 AM in response to James McKinstryby sgmerley,1) I would forget about AirDrop...I am convinced this has nothing to do with it.
2) Did you log out/in of all Mac's and IOS devices?
3) Can you see your IPhone in the Mac WiFI network list?
4) Are you unpaired from all Bluetooth devices?

Oct 24, 2014 10:01 AM in response to cyrusdubashby mysempai,Having same issues here. Tried all the fixes here and seems like no ryme or reason. I can get mail messages to work sometimes. Notes works two way, but long delays, No luck at all either way with Numbers or Keynote. Pages did work, now it is not. Mail working from iPhone 6 to mac but not the other way. Crazy!
