Aug 11, 2014 8:45 AM in response to Christopher Philippoby TuanAnhTruong,You should do that (i've done it and it has worked for me):
System preference -> User & Groups -> Select your user (Admin account in the left panel - mine is TruongTuanAnh) -> Click the lock icon at the left bottom to make change (type your password) -> Click login options above the lock icon -> in Auto login section, change "off" to your account name (mine is TruongTuanAnh) -> click lock icon again.
Restart for the result

Oct 22, 2014 3:33 PM in response to Christopher Philippoby krznarsi,I've just stumbled up on this to! It is the FileVault if it's turned on and Mac Help says: When you turn on encryption, all users are required to use a password to log in. So, you should probably turn off FileVault and that is it! Must try it myself
Let me know how it went!

Nov 13, 2014 7:01 PM in response to Christopher Philippoby afluharty,I found this out by researching a little deeper:
Go to System Preferences>Security>General>Disable automatic login
It will ask you if you are sure that you wanna make this change, hit okay and then you can shut you computer off, or have your screen saver on or shut the lid of your macbook and when you turn it back on it will not ask for a password again. Hope that this helps. (:

Aug 12, 2015 12:46 PM in response to Partridge1847by bkkusc,You need to turn off your FileVault first (the computer will restart once you do this) and then you can turn on the auto login.

Aug 26, 2015 4:00 PM in response to Partridge1847by nitaboo,Call Apple Care. I'm on hold right now for the same issue. They are calling a Senior Advisor because the one who answer the phone can't help either.
I hope you already solved the issue. If not I'll tell you what they told me, ok?

Dec 10, 2015 2:27 PM in response to ilia93by melodyfromhumble,I just went in to change password & left the new one blank & it did not require me to enter a new password. It just warned me that since I did not enter a new password, my information was available for anyone using the computer. I clicked OK. Now I don't need a password to login.

Dec 31, 2015 12:10 AM in response to Christopher Philippoby Caio Diehl,Hello all,
Let me help you all with a good explanation about password login system.
There are two different situations that you can have:
1) Your password is being required when you start your iMac. In this case, go to:
-->Sys Preferences-->Accounts--> Log-in Options-->Automatic log-in--> OFF or your choose your ACCOUNT
2) Your password is being required after your iMac sleep or screen saver begins. In this case, go to:
Sys Pref--> Security --> General, and make sure the box is not checked for ☑ *Require password immediately after sleep or screen saver begins* .
The second situation could automatically being set when you start using your Key Chain Password from Apple. Your system turn it on to prevent any user to log-in your computer and use all your password stored in your Key Chain.
Cheers,

Hello
I don't see anything like you indicate called Accounts to "check" in a box?????
-->Sys Preferences-->Accounts-->
Log-in Options-->Automatic log-in--> OFF or your ACCOUNTSystem preferences doesn't take me to Accounts: "internet Accounts" but nothing to "check"off???
Let me guess. You are NOT using Snow Leopard 10.6. But rather a newer version of OS X, so the System Preference items have been renamed, and new items added, old items maybe removed, etc...
So if I am correct, you want to look for
System Preferences -> Users & Groups
-> Click the padlock and enter the Admin account password to unlock it
-> Login Options -> Automatic login: OffIn the future, it would be helpful if you posted in the OS X format that matched the version of OS X you are actually using.
