Sep 27, 2014 3:23 PM in response to melmil516by gail from maine,When the update got completed, did your phone reset and show you the "Hello" screen? If so, then the only way to get that info back would be through a backup in iCloud or iTunes.
As part of the set up process, it should have asked you if you wanted to restore from backup.
Can you tell us whether any of what is described above happened?

Oct 5, 2014 5:57 PM in response to melmil516by leonie1987,i had the same problem but then i found them!!!!
go to your pictures - instead of going in "albums" and then "recently added"; go to photos, where the photos are put in order of date and they should be all the way on top
hope you find them!

Oct 21, 2014 7:13 PM in response to leonie1987by mugroso,I updated to 8.2 and it asked me to connect to itunes - could not do anything with my phone for the entire day!!
Now, having to connect to a computer and doing the update my phone got into "recovery mode" for some reason and it had to be restored.
I LOST ALL MY PICTURES, VIDEOS, AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE...
Samsung and Android are looking a lot better by the day...
Problems are getting worse every time.

Oct 22, 2014 10:07 PM in response to mugrosoby gail from maine,Well, if you updated to 8.2, then you are living in a different world than the rest of us. 8.1 was just released on Monday.
Do you not have an iCloud or iTunes backup that you can restore to? Have you not been importing your photos to a photo library on your computer?
Maybe you could start from the beginning and we can see if we can help. If you had to restore your device, and you have absolutely no backups, then, I'm afraid you are out of luck. However, if you have backups, or if you have been importing your photos on a regular basis, then probably most of your stuff can be recovered.

Oct 23, 2014 11:02 AM in response to leonie1987by Apple in PV,I only had a few pictures there with a note saying the photos would be deleted in a certain number of days, even though I have every setting on my phone set to "Never" delete anything. Also, all photos, messages, notes, what's App conversations, etc all gone. I updated to 8.1 on my iphone 6, was greeted by "Hello", and my phone (and apparently iCloud data) was wiped and reset. Still have my contacts, fortunately.

Oct 23, 2014 11:09 AM in response to melmil516by Apple in PV,I had this same problem when updating to 8.1 (which is what you meant to say, I'm sure). When updating, I was greeted with the "Hello" screen, and subsequently it started me from almost scratch. I lost all messages, photos, what's app conversations, notes... and more. Fortunately, contacts are still there. Not sure how to back up from iTunes, as I've updated much data since my last back up a week ago. I rely on iCloud for backups on these things, but all of that data is also gone! I'm hoping Apple fixes this for next upgrade, since this is really an issue to look at. I guess I'll rely on iTunes more again. (Still loving my iPhone 6 and the new ios, though...)

Oct 23, 2014 3:50 PM in response to Apple in PVby gail from maine,Why is your iCloud backup gone? Do you have automatic backups set up? If so, you should have backups for the last 3 days....

Oct 23, 2014 7:53 PM in response to gail from maineby Apple in PV,I don't know why my iCloud information is gone. My contacts are there, I never added photos, but my notes are blank. I don't know how to find the other information. I back up manually to my computer except for contacts, calendar, notes and reminders. I don't know why the photos are gone on my phone, either, since they aren't linked to anything... just taken on my phone. I found a "recently deleted" folder with some of them, and those had a date when they would be deleted, even though I have "never delete" anything for all my apps. I figure I did something... but I can't figure out what.

Jul 2, 2015 5:12 PM in response to gail from maineby i know nothing about computer, hello~~ it happened to me too..
i vaguely remember what happened after the IOS update is completed.
but. the next time i remember is ... it asked me to plug into "itune' , i was hoping my friend's friend could help me, so i didn't plug it in by myself until one month later (probably not related, but just want to give a bit more details) so it asked me to plug in, and from what i see , it is either cancel or restore are my options. but this idiot friend WITHOUT confirming to me that my data would be gone after i pressed "restore" ( cuz in my mind, i thought restore just meaning resetting.. i didn't know it means... to format) ... and i am super upset now. i know everyone keeps saying.. if you had back up , then it wouldn't be a problem... but obviously i dont have access to computer, mainly working on my ipad and i got all my photos there... so if you were going to "teach me a lesson" for not backingup.. please say no more.. however.. would you at least tell me... were there anything i would have done before i hit the restore button? were there ANYTHING i could do before i offically lost my photos?...
i have seen it online for some software.. to recover the datas ( photos and stuff ) in my case only photos and some videos would do. is there ANY way I could possiblity get those photo back? because as far as i know ( at least to most of the computer) even if i had formatted it, as long as i didn't put any new data in, those formatted/erased data still exist, but in a different form. desperately need help if you could somehow .. answer me... thank you so much
