Q: Bluetooth car connectivity after installation of iOS 8 and 8.2

Using iPhone 5 (ATT). Driving 2013 Toyota highlander. No Bluetooth issues prior to updating iOS to 8.0. The 8.2 update did not fix this issue.

Issue - attempted to place call from car. Radio went silent ( this is normal) I hear call ring 2-3 times then click. Then radio resumes playing ( indicating call did not go through)   Display in car indicates it is still trying to call. Even after turning off Bluetooth and car for hours, when both are on the car display indicates the call is still trying to Connect. The phone will not function properly when still connected. To be able to place calls or texts, I turn off Bluetooth. To clear message when blue tooth on, I have had to pull over, turn off the car so I can have phone forget the device (car) then turn off blue tooth restart car - unpair the iPhone turn Bluetooth back on on the iPhone and re-pair to the car.  Then Siri can read my texts to me.

 

REPEAT THIS HAS ALL OCCURRED SINCE UPDATE TO IOS 8 and I hoped it would be fixed with the update of that which I installed yesterday. No luck. Any other suggestions?

    Not me, unfortunately. Upgraded to 8.2, and I thought it was, then it did the rifling through album art and was unable to play audio. Might be automobile-specific as well.

    Same issue with my 2008 Toyota Sequoia.  I spoke to Toyota and they know of the issue and are working with Apple to resolve it but it is on the apple ios side.

    same issue with iPhone 5 with RDX, but with latest upgrade you can connect until the call is dialed then it drops and you cannot re-connect because neither the auto or manual bluetooth selection for connectivity won't engage.  It also knocks out the speaker on the phone.  You are stuck putting the phone up to your ear!  Is Apple going to pay for tickets?  This is crazy.  Some of us rely on bluetooth to return calls while on the road, it is no longer a luxury.  Is there a workaround until apple can figure a way to fix this?

    I have an iPhone 6 and have experienced the same issues with Bluetooth connections to my Bose SLIII soundbar and to the car's Bluetooth audio and phone system (2013 Honda Pilot EX). I had an iPhone 5 (pre IOS8) and was absolutely perfect for 2+ years, prior to the iPhone 6.  Extremely frustrated by this problem because I'm a technical person and can't fix this because the problem is with the phone, not the user, not the car.  What's frustrating about this is I truly enjoy Apple products because of their high standard of doing things right the first time.  I wonder if CEO Tim Cook's iPhone disconnects from his car's Bluetooth too?  Maybe he uses an Android and isn't aware of this hot topic!

    Another complaint here from an irritated user. I have a 2014 Acura TL. Everything worked fine with iOS7 on an iPhone 4S. On the iPhone 6, I can get Bluetooth connection for audio, though the behavior is often wonky (takes too long to connect, etc.) but more importantly, it will NOT connect to the AcuraLink service anymore. It runs through the test attempts back to back and fails to connect.

     

    Like the previous post, I am a technical user. I've tried resetting network settings on the phone, deleting the phone from the car and reconnecting it, etc. to no avail.

     

    Acura advises they have no updates for the firmware for the system in the car. Why should they? It works with other phones.

     

    Apple, you need to fix this.

    Using iPhone 5s (Sprint). Driving 2013 Toyota Tundra. No Bluetooth issues prior to updating iOS to 8.0. The 8.2 update did not fix the issue. I can get Music, Audiobooks, Maps (Google Maps) all through the Bluetooth connection it will even ring through the sound system when a call is coming in – but when you answer it, it goes radio silent and I  have to switch  to speaker or pick up the phone and take the call on the device.

     

     

    I’ve tried:

    1. Resetting phone to factory (restore phone and set up as a new device)
    2. Delete all Bluetooth profiles on  device
    3. Delete all Bluetooth profiles in the truck
    4. Installed latest updates (iOS 8.2)
    5. Reset all settings / network settings
    6. Signed out of iCloud after forgetting settings (Left it off to test)
    7. Toyota has no updates for the Tundra (2013 Toyota Tundra)

     

    I find that I’m at a loss, prior to iOS 8 everything was great - audio, hands free, etc. but now I’m just spinning my  wheels and spending hours upon days trying to figure this out. PLEASE anyone I will try anything.


    I’m aware that Apple’s focus is Carplay but this issue is wide spread and affects more than one model of iPhone across several updates.  Is there another avenue to take to get priority support or beta Bluetooth firmware? Anything.


    I’m more than irritated but I’m open to suggestions

    IMG_0006.jpg2014 Camry with Entune here. Got my wife an iphone 6 plus (Verizon), yesterday, it is running ios 8.2.

    The radio will recognize the phone, and acknowledge received texts, make calls, bluetooth her contacts and music, what it will not do is allow use of cellular data for bing, open table etc.

    I have a 5s, also running ios 8.2, (AT&T), I am getting the same results when my phone is connected to her car, will not use cellular data for searches etc. I never thought to check my phone before I updated it to the latest ios, and she was using an android phone before this new one, and it worked flawlessly with the radio. We both have Entune installed and running on our phones

    Any suggestions or help appreciated.

    Edit: I tried all the steps that Tony (Toeknee) posted earlier. That was my yesterday afternoon project.

    I have the same problem since the update, my car searches for the devices but doesn't see the phone and now the phone doesn't see anything including another iPhone.  I've tried resetting the network settings but again that does help. Up until the update to 8.2 everything was working well but now it does. Really frustrating to say the least.

    After "upgrading" to iOS 8.2, my iPhone 5s would not connect to my car (2015 Honda.) Worked fine before the "upgrade." Now, car doesn't see the phone, phone doesn't see the car. I reset all settings on the phone, deleted all devices from the car bluetooth. Nothing changed. This is beyond irritating. Any chance this is going to be addressed?

    Add me to the list. Didn't have problems with my 2011 Toyota Prius until I updated to iOS 8.2 on my iPhone 6.

     

    Here's what I've seen:

    • Playing music just fine via iPhone and Bluetooth
    • Turn off the car radio by pushing the volume knob
    • If you turn it back on after a short period of time and wait a few seconds, the music starts playing again. All good.
    • However, if you wait longer (a minute, maybe more?),
    • Music doesn't play through the car speakers
    • Eventually the car says that bluetooth device has been disconnected.
    • If you hit the Connect button in the AUX screen, it will eventually play,
    • But if a call comes in, it doesn't go to the car audio. Not safe.
