Q: ios 8 bluetooth connectivity issues

I have an iPhone 4S and an iPad 2 and having been pairing the two for a couple of years to run keynote for the classes I teach.  I have loved using keynote for ios as it allows me to use my phone as a remote control to run my presentations from my ipad.  I love the fact that I can have my notes built into each slide and can walk around my classroom freely changing slides and reading my notes without having to run back up to the front.

The problem:  Now that I have upgraded to ios 8 my phone and my computer will not even recognize each other.  Other bluetooth devices still work fine.  I even visited an apple retailer today and tried to remotely control keynote on an iphone 6 from a 6 plus.  I was not able to pair the devices.  So, I updated my iphone and ipad today to the new ios 8.1, but still no pairing.  This is seriously affecting my classroom dynamics as I am now stuck behind my lecturn.  Please help!!  Does someone know how to fix this issue or can someone at Apple work on this?  Thanks.
